Marcy Kaptur Stays Close to Biden Administration’s Policies Despite Public Opinion During Presidential Visit

President Joe Biden made his way to Ohio on Wednesday and longtime U.S. Representative Marcy Kaptur (D-OH-09) still hasn’t shied away from embracing his agenda, even as other Democrats in tough elections are beginning to distance themselves from the liberal Biden agenda that has resulted in massive inflation and higher gas prices.

America Rising PAC Press Secretary Kristen Bennett said to The Ohio Star, “Marcy Kaptur’s decision to stand by Joe Biden today, puts on full display her decision to be a rubber stamp for the Biden agenda that caused the runaway inflation crisis plaguing Ohioans.”

Kaptur continued to stand by Biden’s side while he promotes the American Rescue Plan, with both glossing over the fact that those policies have caused record-setting inflation. Kaptur’s support doesn’t end with the American Rescue Plan. She has repeatedly given her stamp of approval to Biden’s $3.5 trillion Build Back Better, which experts say would have only compounded the economic woes that the United States is currently facing.

Other Democrats in tight November races, including Tim Ryan, are distancing themselves from Joe Biden because of his decreasing popularity in polling.

In the current U.S. House, Kaptur has voted with Speaker Nancy Pelosi and President Joe Biden 100 percent of the time. She also voted to make Pelosi the Speaker of the House.

While many vulnerable Democrats have shied away from Biden, Kaptur has stood by him throughout his presidency as evidenced by her attendance at three of his events in Ohio. In February 2022, at an appearance with Biden, Kaptur said, “by any measure President Biden, your report card is outstanding for your first year as president.”

In 2021, Kaptur voted for Biden’s American Rescue Plan, which is estimated to explode the national deficit by $1.84 trillion and has been blamed for inflation spikes.

In 2021, Kaptur voted for the $3.5 trillion Build Back Better Act, calling its passage “an enormous win for the American people.”

According to the Penn Wharton Budget Model, the Build Back Better Act would increase spending by $2.1 trillion over 10 years.

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimated Build Back Better would increase deficits by $367 billion over 10 years.

The Build Back Better Act includes provisions that could fund elective abortions and include an abortion mandate for plans covering individuals in the “Medicaid gap.”

According to the Congressional Budget Office, Build Back Better would result in millions of illegal immigrants receiving amnesty and permanent residency.

Former Obama economic advisor Steven Rattner argued that the Build Back Better Act will only exacerbate inflation.

According to The Tax Foundation, Build Back Better would “likely contribute to inflation.”

The Penn Wharton Budget Model additionally found that Build Back Better would add up to 0.2 percentage points to inflation over the next two years.

Economists at Moody’s Analytics, The American Action Forum, and Harvard University agreed the bill will push inflation up in the short run.
