Nashville Police Arrest Ex-Convict, Who Wasn’t Supposed to Have a Gun, for Allegedly Robbing Someone at Gunpoint

An ex-convict in Tennessee is in jail once again this week for allegedly robbing and shooting a 55-year-old man.

This, according to a press release Nashville officials put out this week about Denevie K. Bell.

“The victim was walking when Bell, 38, allegedly robbed him at gunpoint. During the hold-up, the victim was shot in the side. He was transported to Skyline Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. After the shooting, Bell fled in a burgundy Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by accused accomplice Damon Sales, 19. Sales is charged with being an accessory after the fact and remains jailed in lieu of $1,000 bond,” according to the press release.

“Investigation by Madison Precinct detectives led to the identification of Bell as the gunman. Officers yesterday located Bell hiding in the back seat of a parked vehicle near his Charles E. Davis Boulevard residence. He was taken into custody after attempting to flee on foot. An arrest warrant charging him with especially aggravated robbery was issued late last night. He is also charged with resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer.”

In 2015, authorities charged Bell with a string of aggravated street robberies involving holding up women at gunpoint, the press release said.

“He has been out on bond in the 2015 cases, which remain unresolved. Bell was arrested on charges of gun theft and unlawful gun possession in April and was released on $27,000 bond. He is now charged with violating bond conditions. Bell has prior convictions for aggravated robbery and carjacking.”

Yes, Every Kid

This is not the first time authorities in Tennessee have arrested a convicted criminal for allegedly having a firearm — even though the person legally wasn’t allowed to have it.

As The Tennessee Star reported in February officials charged a Madison man with carjacking, brandishing a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. Officials charged Devan Javon Thompson, 31, of Madison.

As The Star reported last year, Justin Jerome Jones pleaded guilty in November in U.S. District Court to three counts of being a convicted felon in possession of firearms. The Star also reported that authorities sentenced a Nashville man, Kevin Mark Paul, in U.S. District Court to 15 years in prison for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

Sort of a lame statement. Criminals do not care about laws. And why was this guy still walking the streets after racking up all of this criminal history. Some of the hard pushed for “criminal reform” should be to lock criminals up instead of turning them loose after a slap on the wrist and a pat on the rump.
