Nearly 15,000 Tennesseans Test Positive for COVID-19

 

As of Sunday Tennessee had 14,985 confirmed COVID-19 cases, while the virus had claimed the lives of 243 state residents.

This, according to The Covid Tracking Project, which also reported the virus had hospitalized 1,325 Tennesseans.

Davidson and Shelby counties, meanwhile, had the first and second highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases, respectively, as of Sunday, according to The Tennessee Department of Health’s website. The TDH also reported that Trousdale ranked a distant third in total number of virus cases.

As The Tennessee Star reported last week, Trousdale County got a boost from an unusual source. The Trousdale Turner Correctional Facility in Trousdale County had more than 1,300 cases of inmates and staff who tested positive for COVID-19 – almost all of whom were asymptomatic.

The TDH reported the following number of COVID-19 cases, per county, as of Sunday night:
