North Carolina Gun Shop Faces Backlash for Billboard Criticizing Omar and the Squad

A North Carolina gun shop is facing backlash after putting up a billboard that calls four Democratic congresswomen “idiots.”

“The four horsemen are idiots,” the billboard (pictured below) states, with the word “cometh” crossed out. The billboard features pictures of the four members of the “squad,” which includes Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-MN-05), Ayanna Pressley (D-MA-07), Rashida Tlaib (D-MI-13), and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY-14).

Cherokee Guns, the shop responsible for the billboard, is also handing out bumper-sticker versions of the advertisement.

“Alright my fellow infidels for Trump… due to overwhelming demand you may come by the shop and get your very own four horsemen cometh sticker,” the gun shop wrote on Facebook. “Snowflakes and liberals are not eligible.”

Yes, Every Kid

Pressley condemned the billboard in a statement posted to Twitter Tuesday and called on Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC-11) to “do the right thing.”

“Racist rhetoric from the occupant of the White House has made hate our new normal. We are still vulnerable,” she said. “Rep. Mark Meadows—Cherokee Guns is in your district and you and I serve on a committee together. Here’s your chance to finally do the right thing.”

Omar retweeted Pressley’s comments, but Meadows hasn’t responded to the matter.

According to The Hill, an employee at the gun shop said he was given instructions on what to do if any “threatening liberals” protest at the store.

“Show them the door, or your gun, and tell them they can buy their own billboard and pay for it like I did,” the employee reportedly said.

Hey media, a backlash has to be more than one person. Good for Cherokee Gun Shop for expressing their First Amendment right to free speech.

  2. Charles Schumacher

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised to hear that Rep. Pressley thinks the First Amendment only applies to speech that she agrees with. Dare we hope that Rep. Meadows will have the backbone to tell her where she can stuff it?

Fantastic. we need more of these around the country.

The paper doesn’t help its credibility by calling one negative view a “backlash”. Stop the exaggeration of both reactions – both positive and negative – so that you do use a dramatic headline or statement to color the issue. There will always be agreement or disagreement with everything done or said, so don’t make it seem like Armageddon when someone, especially a public official, takes umbrage at a particular action. This kind of reporting has raised the level of conflict between competing ideologies to dangerous levels, and it does not reflect well on the media, especially the conservative media.

The billboard and the tweet are devoid of any racism. It’s simply not there. The Squad needs to read The Boy Who Cried Wolf.

Wrong part of the horse . . .

Huh. I’d have called them the Four Horsefaces of the Apocalypse. (It’s still okay to insult a woman’s appearance without being called “racist”, right? “Sexist”, maybe, but not “racist”.)

“Do the right thing, Mark Meadows.” I agree. Rep. Meadows should walk right down to Cherokee Guns…
…and get a handful of stickers!

I am sick of the constant accusation of “racist”. To continually call someone by a name does not mean they are that. I want people to start using that old schoolyard response, “It takes one to know one!” It seems these “racism detectors” seem to have so much firsthand experience with racism, I’m just curious what makes the qualified to make the judgment.

I applaud this business owner for standing up for what he believes. He also has freedom to speak and buy a billboard (or rent) in this country. I am sick and tired of my rights being taken away while some left wing liberals are able to do and say whatever they want! Hold your ground Cherokee Guns!!!

  9. Steve Allen

It’s called the First Amendment, which also gives the four of them the same right to bash our country. The new norm for the Left is to accuse anyone they don’t agree with of being either a racist or a Nazi. The comments against them have nothing to do with their ethnicity, it has all to do with their anti American behavior. Hopefully their constituents will vote them out of office in the next go-round.
