People Speak Out Against Big Brother Style Child Wellbeing Check Run by Tennessee Department of Education

Maury County Mayor Andy Ogles says, “NO!!!” to Gov. Bill Lee’s Big Brother-style child wellbeing program that plans to send government officials to families’ homes to do welfare checks of children.

The Tennessee Department of Education says it released a toolkit on child wellbeing checks to ensure the needs of children are being met during and after extended periods away from school. It is promoted as protecting children.

The department earmarked $1 million in COVID-19 funds to set up regional overseers to work with districts, which are encouraged to apply. A grant from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will give funding for eight regional staff members to work across the state.

In response, Ogles posted on his official Facebook page, “NO!!! I will NOT stand for this, neither as your Mayor nor as a Father!  … Governor Bill Lee initiating wellbeing checks for EVERY child in TN.”

Education Commissioner Penny Schwinn, in trying to sell the idea, said, “Since we know many children have experienced adversity due to the pandemic, child wellbeing checks are a deliberate way all stakeholders in the community can help ensure the needs of our children are met. I am encouraged by the hard work and dedication of the Task Force and our districts to support kids and their holistic needs.”

Conservative education reform advocate Karen Bracken railed against the program on her Facebook page and issued a call to parents. Her post is available here.

Yes, Every Kid

TN CITIZENS….

CALL GOVERNOR LEE NOW. DEMAND THAT THE WELLNESS TOOLKIT IS THROWN IN THE TRASH. SLAM HIS PHONE 615-741-2001

VOLUNTEERS TO INTERVIEW EVERY STUDENT AND THE LETTER GOING HOME SAYS NO ONE CAN BE IN THE ROOM WHILE THE STUDENT IS BEING INTERVIEWED.

THIS GOES FOR PUBLIC, PRIVATE, HOMESCHOOL AND HOME BOUND STUDENTS TO THE AGE OF 18.

PRINCESS PENNY SAID THEY HAVE 38 AGENCIES AND OTHERS STEPPING UP TO DO THE WELLNESS VISITS. REALLY????

IF THEY CARE SO MUCH FOR OUR KIDS AND THEIR PARENTS THEN LET THEM GET BACK TO A NORMAL LIFE INSTEAD OF KEEPING THEM IN A CONSTANT STATE OF FEAR.

THEY HAVE CROSSED THE LINE. WE DO NOT WANT REVISIONS WE WANT IT TRASH CANNED.

GET PREPARED FOR A MARCH IN NASHVILLE IF IT IS NOT TRASH CANNED.

Maybe Andy Ogles needs to run for Governor!! I went to school with Bill Lee, but he does not have my vote again. This program does not need to be revised, but it needs to be abolished!!!

If you genuinely oppose Big Brother/Big Sister tactics against our children, then go after the biggest culprit: I.C.E. cops who separate little children and infants from their parents. These same I.C.E. officials not only separate but willfully abuse these children. Return these children to their loving parents and punish these I.C.E. cops for what they really are–child abusers!

    1. Tom Paine

How about these illegal foreign invaders stop flooding America? Then they’d never have to worry about those horrible I.C.E. agents ever again! If they weren’t born here, haven’t legally immigrated here, or been designated as a lawful refugee, then they need to go home, stop this colonialism by illegals.

Maury County is so blessed to have Andy Ogles as our mayor. Are any other TN officials openly standing against this?

So much evil everywhere. So many desperate, power-hungry losers in leadership positions. Speaking of leadership.. who can people count on if they cant count on liars who ran on the platforms of “less government” “faith” and “empowring family structure”

It’s time for the people to resist. Enough is enough.

This will get ugly, what’s it gonna take to be heard, we the people will not I repeat not hold back, my family is my life, don’t tread on me

It’s time for war. I was sent to Vietnam to take out a socialist government and now the government and the rich want to enslave us all. We need to quit depending on the same government that wants a North Korean type country here to protect us and all get together here and form our own protection against the government.

    1. William Delzell

We weren’t saving freedom and democracy when we fought in Korea and Vietnam; we propped up right-wing dictatorships there and needlessly risked U.S. soldier lives just to benefit a few rich militarists.

  7. Teddy

Governor told us he is a conservative; I’m still waiting. What a disappointment.

  8. Refuge from IL

I’m deep in the ‘burbs of Chicago and have been planning my escape to TN for several months, looking to be sown south by the end of the year. This is exactly the type of nonsense I’m moving in order to avoid. It’s horrifying to see I might not be able to escape it anywhere in the nation.

I hope the good people of TN were simply unfamiliar with just how dark and subversive the pols from the left side, east side and every huge city in between really are. Take this as your clear warning to get them out, and KEEP them out. The terrors you read about in “blue America” are on your doorstep.

    BEWARE.

      i can attest to that

I agree. I would tell your communist governor go to h. He id way over stepping his authority. Children under 18 must have parents present to be indoctrinated by gov.

If one “government official” tests positive for Covid, are all the occupants of all the homes they visited quarantined?

  10. Wolf Woman

Comrade Lee, Comrade Schwinn, Big Brother is proud of you. Soon, you’ll have all the proles in line and accounted for and we can commence with our plan to take the children away from their oppressive parental family structure. All bow to the Cultural Revolution!

  11. Kevin

This is BAD, VERY, VERY BAD!

Since when do we think that a paid, government bureaucrat is better suited to evaluate or care for our children? What kind of parents would think this is OK and allow it to happen? What kind of people would sign up to do this kind of job?

And Governor Lee, what ever happened to “government isn’t the answer….” campaign slogan? And how about that line about tasking private, non-profit organizations with this type of work? You’ve lost your way! Or maybe, more appropriately, we citizens, lost our way in 2018!

Schwinn – FIRE HER IMMEDIATELY. Send this California trash packing. Hire someone from within the education system in Tennessee. Stop bringing in this gutter trash from out of state. Grow a pair Governor!

  13. Russ Crouch

If there are not enough teacher to teach classes, How and how many people will have to be hired to do this? IF they have enough money to hire these people, why can they not pay teachers more. This is a very bad idea, their hearth might have been in the right place, but this is a very bad idea. They do know that some people will NOT let them in the house. They do know that some people may well react with force if they try. this is a very bad idea.

Tennessee voted in an “outsider” masquerading as a conservative in 2018. This totalitarian power grab attempt demonstrates without a doubt he is definitely “outside” – WAY outside – what voters expected from their governor. The Legislature should consider if his egregious action of ordering this “program” makes him unfit to hold office.

Education Minister Schwinn should be immediately fired.

We are just a few steps away from becoming a totalitarian state. Many thanks to the patriots in the public and private sectors (including The Tennessee Star) who are paying attention and brought this issue to the public’s attention.

“Your voice and your vote matters. Patriots stand united.” – Q

Communist goals, excerpted from the 1958 book, “The Naked Communist,” by Cleon Skousen:

    17. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers’ associations. Put the party line in textbooks.

    32. Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture – education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc.

    38. Transfer some of the powers of arrest from the police to social agencies. Treat all behavioral problems as psychiatric disorders which no one but psychiatrists can understand or treat.

    39. Dominate the psychiatric profession and use mental health laws as a means of gaining coercive control over those who oppose Communist goals.

    41. Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents.

    1. James Brewer

Totally agree. Lee has been a total and utter disappointment. I hope that Knox County mayor Glenn Jacobs runs against him. That said, where the hell is our so-called republican state senators and reps?

    2. William Delzell

How about electing an OUTSIDER leftist/socialist government in this state for the first time in Tennessee history instead of allowing cooky right-wing extremists like Lee and Company to rule this state? Lee a socialist? Ha. That’s a laugh! My sides hurt too much right now to laugh hard.

    3. Mike VanNorman

They have thrown out God and now they want to throw out the parents

This is another way for the evil Marxists to get into our homes, make false accusations & take our children. They could claim one of their workers tested positive & everyone must be quarantined. Keep watch for the passing of HR bill 6666 (track & trace) this too is pure evil. God bless all of you. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Eph.6:12

  15. Mike Johnson

I moved to TN to get away from this type of tyrannical government programs. PUSH BACK…PUSH BACK HARD NOW PARENTS!
