Phil Bredesen’s Claim He’s Not Running Against Trump Backfires with News Joe Biden, Who Said He Would Have ‘Beat the Hell Out Of’ the President, Will Headline His Local Fundraiser

Former Gov. Phil Bredesen’s claim that his campaign for the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate is not based on his opposition to President Donald Trump took a major credibility hit on Wednesday when The Tennesseean reported that former Vice President Joe Biden–who recently said he would have “beat the hell out of”  President Trump–will be the guest of honor at a Nashville fundraiser for Bredesen next week.

According to The Tennessean:

Speaking during an anti-sexual assault rally at the private university in Coral Gables, the Democrat mentioned Mr. Trump’s infamous “Access Hollywood” recording that captured the real estate mogul talking in 2005 about being able to get away with groping women because of his fame.

Former Vice President Joe Biden is scheduled to headline a fundraiser for former Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen’s Democratic bid for U.S. Senate during a swing through Nashville next week.

The fundraiser for the Bredesen Victory Fund is set for Tuesday, April 10 at 1 p.m, according to an invitation obtained by the USA TODAY NETWORK-Tennessee. It’s billed as a “coffee and conversation” with the 47th vice president. A location is not disclosed.

The fundraiser comes on the same day Biden will speak at Vanderbilt University as part of a lecture series hosted by Chancellor Nicholas Zeppos.

In his YouTube announcement of his candidacy, the 74-year-old Bredesen claimed that he wanted to end the partisan bickering in Washington, D.C.

But his selection of the most aggressively partisan critic of President Trump belies that claim.

As The Tennessee Star reported last month, “Former Vice President Joe Biden boasted to a crowd of University of Miami students Tuesday that he would have ‘beat the hell out of’ President Trump in high school.”

“A guy who ended up becoming our national leader said, ‘I can grab a woman anywhere and she likes it,'” Mr. Biden told the crowd. “They asked me if I’d like to debate this gentleman, and I said ‘no.’ I said, ‘If we were in high school, I’d take him behind the gym and beat the hell out of him.’

“I’ve been in a lot of locker rooms my whole life,” he continued. “I’m a pretty damn good athlete. Any guy that talked that way was usually the fattest, ugliest S.O.B. in the room.”

Biden had no such comments regarding the conduct of former President Bill Clinton, who has been accused of specific acts of sexual harassment over the years by many women.

Bredesen, who has said he expects to raise $50 million in his campaign to defeat Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN-07), the likely Republican nominee in the November general election for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by retiring Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN), is relying heavily upon highly partisan out-of-state Democrats to help him raise those vast funds.

Later this month, he plans to travel to New York City, where far left Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) will host another fundraiser for him.

Diane needs to come out HARD against this guy–his shady deals which enriched himself at the expense of the TN taxpayers on the way out the door needs to be a focus along with these two backers-. What a phony
This is how the joe manchins get elected every year–promising to be “bi partisan” and then the minute they get to DC it is all about pelosi/schumer

I agree with you but I think you meant Marsha rather than Diane. Marsha for Senate and Diane for Governor

At “an anti-sexual assault rally” you berate Pres. Trump, then have the audacity to have Joe the Groper headline your fundraiser! Phil, as a Harvard graduate, I thought you were supposedly the smartest politician in town. Maybe you haven’t seen the video of Joe feeling up all the little girls (and grown ones too). You should watch it.

As a resident of Realville, I recognize that Bredesen has successfully appealed to centrists and mushy milquetoast Republicans as evidenced by his runs for Governor.

For Republicans to win, Corker should retire and Blackburn should be named to run from the seat.

If they turn these into a contest, Bredesen’s “aw shucks” demeanor will score high enough to make it a race. Not MTSU polling style race, which is worthless.

But Bredesen plays centrist well while hugging and kissing Chuck Schumer and serial pedo Biden in the cloak room.

Somebody ask Plugs how he got his cokehead son into the Navy at age 42. Ask how Plugs gothis son on the board of a Russian gas concern after getting kicked out of the Navy for cocaine. Ask about the sweetcake deal Plugs just got for his and Kerry’s son from the Chicoms.

Biden is dirty and Bredesen is dirty for laying up with him. Maybe Andrea Conte likes being grabbed by strange men now.

TennCare Phil and Joester the Molester. What a pair.

I guess he could have asked Bill Klinton – he’s probably too busy/too damaged though.

Is anyone really surprised? Does anyone really believe what he says? Bredesen is a washed up lefty who needs to go away. Tennessee deserves better.

No way will I vote for this far left carpetbagger!
