This week members of the pro-Bernie Sanders’ group Our Revolution endorsed six candidates for the Nashville Metro Council, according to a press release.
Our Revolution endorsed Zulfat Suara, Sharon Hurt, Ginny Welsch, Emily Benedict, Kyonzté Toombs, and Brandon Taylor. Those candidates, the press release went on to say, “will bring a progressive approach to Nashville politics, and work hard to ensure that Nashville is for everybody, not just the 1 percent.”
According to their website, members of Our Revolution seek to “transform American politics” and “empower progressive leaders.”
“Nashville is currently undergoing a major population boom, but it doesn’t seem that the city’s growth is benefitting Nashville’s traditional working-class, African-American, and art communities,” the statement went on to say.
The press release quoted Suara, running for an at-large seat, as calling for more funding for public education.
Ginny Welsch, District 16 candidate, meanwhile, wants “livable, competitive wages for metro employees.”
Emily Benedict, running in District 7, said she wants mass transit, per the Our Revolution press release.
“Our Revolution, in solidarity with local group Our Revolution Nashville and Middle Tennessee, is mobilizing to elect these community leaders to the Metro Council,” according to the group’s press release.
“But make no mistake – these candidates pose a threat to establishment politicians and moneyed interests and who’ll spare no expense to defeat us.”
According to Our Revolution’s website, members of the corporate media don’t do enough to cover climate change.
“Our Revolution will revitalize American democracy by unifying the millions of people who got involved over the course of U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign in support of progressive causes,” the group’s website stated.
As The Tennessee Star reported last month, the Nashville Business Alliance Political Action Committee has already endorsed Welsch, Suara, Toombs, and Hurt.
The PAC reportedly advocates for women-and-minority-owned businesses.

Another good reason to vote against every one of them!
Looking over all the candidates for Metro Council, I don’t see any centrists or conservatives. Sanders the Socialist might as well endorsed them all.
Progressive=socialism/communism. Remember that when you go to vote.
