The idea behind this bill is a good one, depending on how it is enforced. When one sues the federal government and is awarded a financial settlement, guess who pays? The taxpayers of America, because that is the only way the government gets money. This bill would be a good idea only if the individuals involved are required to make restitution with their own funds, not government funds, and serve any jail time personally.
My question is, why would Democrats come up with such a bill? They spent so much time harping on the so-called January 6 insurrection and use it as a political sword anytime they feel like. Furthermore, how come a Republican hasn’t drafted this legislation first?
Something smells and it’s not just the swamp gas this time.
