The Republican Liberty Caucus endorsed U.S. Representative Andy Ogles’ (R-TN-05) reelection bid for Tennessee’s 5th Congressional District.

“The Republican Liberty Caucus proudly endorses Andrew Ogles in TN-5,” the political organization wrote in an X post on Thursday. “[Ogles] has become one of the top defenders of liberty in the House. An unwavering voice for freedom and smaller government, he scored a 95 on our Liberty Index during his first year in Congress.”

In January, the group recognized Ogles as one of the Top Defenders of Liberty in 2023.

Each year, the group publishes its liberty-focused scorecard for Republican U.S. House of Representatives members. Each member is given a Liberty Score based on how they vote on 20 pieces of legislation throughout the year that “either advance liberty or diminish liberty.”

The highest possible Liberty Score a member could earn is 100. Ogles earned a score of 95.

Ogles has served as the U.S. Representative for Tennessee’s 5th Congressional District since January 2023 and is a member of the House Freedom Caucus.

Before his election to Congress, Ogles served as the mayor of Maury County, Tennessee, from 2018 until 2022.

Ogles is facing Geoffrey Stokes Nielson and Thomas Guarente in the August 1 Republican primary.

Earlier this month, Ogles was endorsed for reelection by U.S. Senator Bill Hagerty (R-TN), who called the congressman a “fearless fighter for freedom.”

“He truly represents the values of Middle Tennessee in Washington, and I’m pleased to endorse Andy Ogles for re-election in the 5th Congressional District,” Hagerty said.

Last month, Ogles also picked up notable endorsements in his reelection bid from House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH-04) and U.S. Senators Mike Lee (R-UT) and Ted Cruz (R-TX).

Former President Donald Trump also endorses Ogles.
