Sen. Blackburn Joins Lindsey Graham in Resolution Supporting Customs and Border Protection Agents

U.S. Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) on Wednesday joined Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-SC) to introduce a resolution commending the men and women of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency for their honorable service.

“Our CBP officers have answered a call of duty far greater than the one they signed up for,” Blackburn said in a press release. “Instead of defending our nation’s sovereignty, they are being asked to provide medical attention for which they have not been trained and care for children who have been taken advantage of by those who wish to do them harm. To our CBP officers: know that Americans across this country support you and thank you for the extraordinary sacrifice you are giving to this country.”

Blackburn tweeted, “Standing shoulder to shoulder with @LindseyGrahamSC and my GOP colleagues on @senjudiciary as we introduce a resolution honoring @CBP.”

Graham said, “I’m proud to introduce this resolution. To the Border Patrol agents, you’re doing an incredible job. This system is broken. It’s not a crisis, it’s a disaster. Congress has a duty to act.”

The resolution commends the men and women of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, including Border Patrol personnel, Office of Field Operations personnel, Air and Marine Operations personnel, Office of Trade personnel, and all support personnel and their allies for their continued honorable service during the challenging humanitarian crisis at the Southern border.

Also, the resolution calls on Congress to pass legislation to support U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers and to manage the increasing flow of migrants attempting to enter the United States.
The resolution was cosponsored by Judiciary Committee members U.S. Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), John Cornyn (R-TX), Mike Lee (R-UT), Ted Cruz (R-TX), Ben Sasse (R-NE), Josh Hawley (R-MO), Thom Tillis (R-NC), Joni Ernst (R-IA), Mike Crapo (R-ID) and John Kennedy (R-LA).
