Tennessee House Passes Resolution Congratulating Candace Owens’ Move from D.C. to Tennessee

The Tennessee House passed a resolution Thursday congratulating acclaimed conservative pundit, author, Daily Wire talk show host, BLEXIT founder, and new mother Candace Owens for her move to Tennessee. State Representative William Lamberth (R-Portland) was the sponsor of the resolution.

Owens announced her move to Nashville last October, when she also revealed that she would be joining conservative media outlet, The Daily Wire. Last month she debuted her show, “Candace,” with the outlet.

In the resolution, Lamberth quoted Owens’ explanation for why people are leaving blue states. Owens claimed that they were being chased out by Democratic policies – or, as she called them, socialist policies.

“The policies of New York and Los Angeles are no longer desirable. It’s not a place to raise a family. Look at the crime rates that are skyrocketing. What you’re really seeing in these coastal cities is just a manifestation of these socialist policies,” said Owens. “It doesn’t work when everything becomes an expense to the law-abiding taxpayer and everything becomes free to people that don’t want to pay taxes […] I’m a Nashville resident and that just feels amazing to say.”

Prior to joining The Daily Wire, Owens was a prominent voice within many other household names in the conservative world. For several years, she’s hosted another one of her own shows called “The Candace Owens Show” through PragerU

Owens also worked with Turning Point USA as their communications director from 2017 until 2019.

Yes, Every Kid

The new Tennessean didn’t always identify as a conservative. Up until 2016, Owens was liberal. She ran a marketing agency with a blog that occasionally criticized conservatives and then-presidential candidate Donald Trump.

After experiencing doxing following attempts to launch a crowdfunded site to expose online bullies, Owens had a change of heart. She said she came to the realization that leftists were the real racists, not conservatives. In 2017, she posted a parody video of her experience “coming out” as a conservative.

Her newfound beliefs were appreciated by another individual at the time facing controversy for expressing more conservative beliefs – Kanye West.

Since then, Owens has been an avid supporter of Trump and defender of conservative values.

The resolution passed 68 to 21, mainly along party lines.

I understand that she is a true conservative, BUT really wasting time of this resolution is just that – a waste. How about doing real work in the Assembly?

Welcome to Tennessee. I hope more conservatives will follow your lead and move here. We have a saying in the South when someone “gets it”. They have “walking around sense”. You have “walking around sense”.
