The Tennessee Star National Correspondent Neil McCabe Weighs in on a New Biden Administration

Live from Music Row Wednesday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. –  host Leahy welcomed Tennessee Star National Correspondent Neil McCabe to the newsmakers line who weighed in on a new incoming Biden administration.

Leahy: I’m in the studio with the original all-star panelist Crom Carmichael. And on our newsmaker line our national correspondent of Washington D.C. covering national stories Neil McCabe. Good morning Neil.

McCabe: Michael, Crom, great to be with you.

Leahy: Well, well, well. Four more hours of the Trump administration. I know that Mitch McConnell, Mike Pence and Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy are not joining him in his good black ceremony at Andrews Air Force Base. They are however all running to the inauguration with open arms. Mitch McConnell yesterday fed the flames of the impeachment trial pending in the Senate and said the president fed the crowd lies and was responsible in part for the breaching of the Capitol. What do you make of what’s going on in Washington today Neil McCabe?

McCabe: Well, Mike, you’ll be pleased to learn that it’s clear skies and a blustering 40-something degrees. And you know, I would like to tell you it’s a carnival atmosphere here in Washington, but it’s hard to say that when there are National Guard troops at every intersection.

Leahy: (Laughs) Like 26,000. I was watching Tucker Carlson and he said this more than they had in Washington DC during the Civil War when there were Confederate troops just a few miles away.

Yes, Every Kid

McCabe: Right. We haven’t had this many troops in Iraq in a long time. And you know, hopefully, it goes a little better for us today in Washington. You know, I consider those guys my comrades and so I hope that everything is quiet and safe for them. Of course, there will be a fantastic virtual parade with Jon Stewart and hosted by Tony Goldwyn. And that will be on every channel every streaming channel and even Alexa.

It’s an awkward day because the president will not be at the transfer of power. I was wondering if he was going to do this sort of the traditional transfer power, the tradition started by Barack Obama. We would have meetings with the national security staff and figure out how we’re going to undermine the incoming administration and frame them for crimes. I don’t think he’s going to go through with that.

Right now there are about maybe 500 White House and Trump administration staffers at Andrews Air Force Base to send the president off. And so and so there it is. He flies off to Florida and Mar-A-Lago and Joe Biden comes in and he initiates what will be you know, the third Obama term. And what you’re going to see is this raft of executive orders.

You’re going to see the Civil Service and the bureaucracy snap to attention right at noon, and they will execute every Biden order as written. You will not see court challenges for every executive order. You will not see some district judge in Florida overturning administration policy for the entire country. You’ll see none of that. You’ll see the government function perfectly and everything. It’s going to be fantastic.

If Biden is the guy that you want and his policies are what you want it’s going to be fantastic for a while. And then we’re going to see him stumble. We’re going to see him forget his name. (Leahy laughs) We’re going to see him forget where he is. And a Trump impeachment trial is not how Biden wants to start his administration.

It’s going to be really rough sledding for him in the House. It’s going to be rough sledding for him in the Senate and the Republican Party is about to launch that Civil War that we’ve prayed for. It’s going to be exciting times. If people thought things were going to calm down they were wrong.

Leahy: President Biden has already said one of his first acts will be to grant amnesty for every illegal alien in the United States as of January first. That’s about 20 million illegal aliens. What could possibly go wrong with that Neil?

McCabe: Well, I mean it’s going to be a problem for a lot of the liberals because the liberals support the illegals coming in here. Not because they are big-hearted it’s because they need nannies. They need landscapers. Right? Those dishes aren’t going to wash themselves. If you go to dinner at any kind of fancy neighborhood say here in Georgetown Americans will greet you at the door.

Americans will take your order and then illegals will deliver your food to your table because your American waitress or waiter has gone somewhere else. And so, you know who’s going to mow the lawn and clean those gutters if they all these illegals and now US citizens and they have to be paid minimum wage? The minimum wage is going to be what $15.00 an hour? If you own a small business and you don’t have enough kids to run that business for you, good luck.

Leahy: Sounds pretty cynical there.

Carmichael: I was going to say, Neil, you sound a little cranky today.

McCabe: Well this isn’t how I would have written the script. But people are going to find out what wouldn’t a Biden Administration is all about and for all those true conservatives who said they to get rid of trump so we could go back to true conservatism, they’re going to find out. And all those fancies and swells who thought it was a good idea to oppose Donald Trump, they’re going to have to answer for everything that’s happening here. And so hey John Stone.

Hey Ben Sasse. Ben Sasse the senator from Nebraska, the Republican who sat on the Senate Intel Committee and kept his mouth that knew from day one that the Russian collusion hoax was all op-o research and all made up. He knew that Mike Flynn was framed. He sat on the Senate Intel Committee, and he criticized the pardon for Mike Flynn. Right now I count about seven Republican Senators who are like locks to vote to convict the president. So you pick up another 10.

Those guys are going to have to answer. they’re going to have to answer for how the conservative agenda was moving forward for four years on guns, life, business regulation, national defense, and a whole raft of things. They are going to have to answer for what we’re looking at now. When Biden starts tearing down the wall, that was built, what are they going to say? What’s Tom Tillis going to say about that?

Carmichael: Nancy Pelosi has not sent the articles of impeachment over to the Senate. What if she just decides to just sit on them?

McCabe: Well, one of the deals that McConnell made with Schumer, is that even though the Republicans lost both those seats in Georgia McConnell would stay in control of the Senate and the Republicans until yesterday. And so now Schumer is now running the Senate. And so from this point forward, the Democrats are in control of both Houses. And now Pelosi will hand it over to her sock puppet Chuck Schumer. And then we’ll have a trial. The question now is whether Chief Justice, John Roberts will show up or not to preside. He is saying that he’s not interested.

Leahy: Politico is reporting to that effect. What do you think’s going to happen?

McCabe: I think they’ll give it to Kamala Harris which will just add to the circus.

Carmichael: Well now if John Roberts says I don’t want to preside, isn’t he also signaling that if the Trump people sue and claim that you can’t try a president who’s out of the office and that goes to the Supreme Court, didn’t he pretty much signal to the Democrats how the Supreme Court would rule on that?

McCabe: I don’t think a lawsuit is going to work. I think Trump eventually gets acquitted and then Trump becomes the President in 2024.

Leahy: Ahhhhh! And I’m not going to disagree with that possibility.
