A Catholic church in Madison, Wisconsin, was vandalized over the weekend with anti-pro-life and anti-police graffiti.
Police are investigating the defacement of St. Bernard Catholic Church on Atwood Avenue in Madison, believing the spray-painted graffiti defacing the church’s front door and signage occurred overnight from Friday into Saturday, reported NBC15 WMTV News.
“Pro life my f***ing a** let’s talk about all the native kids you’ve killed!!!” the graffiti says.
“St. Bernard Parish is saddened over the graffiti on the front of the church,” said its pastor, Rev. Michael Radowicz.
“We understand people’s anger over the recent ruling by the Supreme Court, but this does nothing to solve any issues,” he added. “We join in prayer for those who did this, that the Lord may heal their hearts. An investigation is ongoing with Madison Police.”
The defacement of the church occurs two months after a violent attack against the Madison pro-life office of Wisconsin Family Action.
Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) described that attack in a letter in May to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Christopher Wray, and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas:
According to news reports, the attackers threw a Molotov cocktail into the Wisconsin Family Action Madison office and painted “if abortions aren’t safe then you aren’t either” on the building. A pro-abortion group called “Jane’s Revenge” claimed responsibility for the attack, stating “This was only a warning… next time the infrastructure of the enslavers will not survive … Wisconsin is the first flashpoint, but we are all over the U.S., and we will issue no further warnings.”
According to the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, at least 144 incidents of vandalism and violence “have occurred across 36 states and the District of Columbia since May 2020.”
“Incidents include arson, statues beheaded, limbs cut, smashed, and painted, gravestones defaced with swastikas and anti-Catholic language and American flags next to them burned, and other destruction and vandalism,” the bishops state.
