A judge has signed off on search warrants for the electronic equipment of Nashville Mayor Megan Barry and retired Metro Nashville Police Sgt. Rob Forrest. On January 31, Barry admitted that she had conducted a two-year-long extramarital affair with Forrest, who served as her bodyguard.
“Authorities believe that Forrest took two photos of a nude woman who is believed to be Barry on his police department-issued cell phone. He allegedly sent the pictures to himself to his MNPD email,” WSMV reported on Thursday.
“Police also found there could be deleted phone logs and hundreds of deleted chats between Forrest and Barry on at least one of the devices that were being searched,” WSMV noted, adding:
The warrants specifically asked for records from a silver Apple iPhone 6s Plus and two black Apple iPhone 7 Plus devices.
The warrants were approved on Feb. 16 by Criminal Court Judge Steve Dozier and were returned on Thursday to the Davidson County Criminal Court Clerk’s office.
“Within the search warrant, a special agent with the TBI mentions an email sent from Sgt. Forrest’s work email address that included a photo of a nude female lying on the bed with a black purse next to her,” WKRN reported.
That email was sent on May 15, 2017 and Mayor Barry was later photographed with what is believed the same black purse. Forrest’s police-issued cell phone was taken into possession by the TBI earlier this month.
The search warrants also revealed that during the first six months of her administration, Mayor Barry did not travel with security.
The Tennessean reported Thursday afternoon that “nude cell phone photos, deleted chats, may show evidence of crime.”
“I would refer all questions about the TBI investigation to the TBI or Mayor Barry’s attorney, Jerry Martin,” Mayor Barry’s spokesperson Sean Braisted told The Tennessee Star when asked to confirm or deny reports that Mayor Barry was the nude woman in the emailed photo and if she was reconsidering her decision not to resign.

After watching her deer in the headlights meltdown on TV tonight, it’s apparent that she and her lawyer don’t understand that the target of an investigation does not direct investigators as to what can or can not be collected as evidence.
Who, exactly, was the recipient of Forrest’s email with the nude pictures of Barry attached? Does Hustler magazine still publish “Beaver Hunt?” That’s one possible recipient as that particular feature didn’t have a low bar. Let’s hope Mayor Barry stays around a while longer. She’s demanding that investigators pay no attention to any other texts or e-mails outside of the scope of her adulterous misappropriation of funds as she is refusing to provide a password for the device. And if the guy she was was shtupping for 2 years took a picture of her, then it’s an invasion of her privacy because she’s the real victim here.

Good Lord, I missed Mayor Barry claiming her cemetery trysts were to reflect on her dead son. Even for a story that had gone through the floor that’s low. Did Forrest attend these morning quickie memorials with her to honor the dead? Her opportunistic grief-mongering had become annoying and friends out-of-town but still in the local television viewing area already were ridiculing us over it, but that is beyond disgusting.

This is not a partisan matter. This is a situation that speaks to judgement and Mayor Barry has demonstrated horribly poor decision making. It is now time to resign Mayor.
