Ohio Senate Candidate Calls Potential Trump Indictment ‘Vile’

Ohio Republican politician and businessman Bernie Moreno said on Tuesday that another potential indictment against former President and 2024 presidential candidate Donald Trump is “nothing more than another vile attempt by Team Biden to target their leading political opponent.”

According to a statement from Trump on Tuesday, he received a letter from the Department of Justice (DOJ) indicating he will be arrested and indicted for the events surrounding the January 6th, 2021 riot at the Capitol.

Such a letter “almost always means an arrest and indictment,” Trump said, who has been criminally indicted twice recently.

U.S. Special Counsel Jack Smith’s probe into Trump’s alleged role in the January 6th Capitol riots centers around whether he attempted to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election and incited his supporters to break into the Capitol.

Trump called Smith deranged and called the potential indictment a witch hunt, saying it’s “all about election interference and a complete and total political weaponization of law enforcement.”

According to Trump, he has “a very short 4 days” to report to the grand jury.

Moreno (pictured above) said that this indictment is another attempt by the Biden administration to stop Trump from getting back into the White House.

“This is nothing more than another vile attempt by Team Biden to target their leading political opponent. Biden’s DOJ is hellbent on stopping Trump because they know if he gets back into the White House, he’s going to clean house and fire all of the corrupt Deep State bureaucrats,” Moreno said.

U.S. Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH-04) also spoke out about the potential indictment saying President Trump did nothing wrong and that the Biden administration should spend more of their time focusing on the Democrat-run cities running rampant with crime and drugs.

“Joe Biden’s DOJ: Attack the Portland Federal Courthouse? No problem. Intimidate SCOTUS justices to influence a court decision? No big deal. But if you’re President Trump and do nothing wrong? PROSECUTE. Americans are tired of the double standard! Imagine if Joe Biden’s DOJ spent less time attacking President Trump and more time cleaning up Democrat-run cities infested with rampant crime and drugs,” Jordan said.

Trump has been indicted on 37 counts for allegedly retaining classified government documents and obstruction of justice in the “boxes hoax,” even though Biden has also faced scrutiny for his alleged mishandling of classified materials. Last month, he entered a not-guilty plea to all of the accusations.

Separately, Trump faces 34 counts in New York for his alleged use of hush money in connection with porn star Stormy Daniels.

Trump announced his candidacy for the Presidency in 2024 at the end of last year to unseat Biden and “Make America Great Again.”
