Former Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon, who resigned her position at the Justice Department Thursday, returned to Dhillon Law Group, a law firm she founded in San Francisco in 2006.
“She has defended the civil liberties of every American and enforced the law without fear or favor,” Blanche wrote. “The Department is grateful for her dedicated public service, and we wish her every success in her future endeavors,” Blanche said after accepting her resignation.
Dhillon said in a statement she will spearhead two major national litigation initiatives aimed at unlawful discrimination in corporate hiring and contracting, as well as that by financial institutions who discriminate against businesses, entrepreneurs and individuals as a result of their political or religious beliefs.
Her initiatives, according to the statement, will also evaluate shareholder and fiduciary duty litigation against publicly traded companies whose discriminatory or ideologically driven policies may violate the law, mislead investors or expose shareholders to financial losses.
“We will take the fight against illegal DEI into corporate boardrooms and courtrooms, stand up for American workers and businesses facing ideological discrimination. The First Amendment has been my passion for decades, and we are going to defend it aggressively,” Dhillon said.
Dhillon had informed the Trump administration three weeks ago of her intention to resign, according to the statement.
On social media on Friday, she said, ” Loved you and all my [DOJ Civil Rights] colleagues right back — the new ones AND the OGs who did their jobs without bias under this admin’s leadership. It was incredible to be able to attract so much talent but guess what — equal justice for ALL AMERICANS was not a hard sell!”
