NASHVILLE, Tennessee – In an exclusive interview with The Tennessee Star, Tennessee U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn blasted the Biden administration, saying regarding the inflation, gas price, and border emergencies that “they are doing this intentionally.”
Blackburn spoke with The Star backstage at the Faith and Freedom Coalition’s Road to Majority Conference.
U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) responded to MSNBC’s criticism of her June 10 comments where she noted that Democrats have pushed higher gas prices in pursuit of the Green New Deal and transition away from fossil fuels.
Blackburn tweeted on Tuesday in response to their article, “Joe Biden’s policies have caused gas to reach over $5 a gallon. Now Biden is using his energy crisis as an excuse to implement his radical Green New Deal. This is not a coincidence. It’s intentional.”
Memphis Democrat U.S. Representative Steve Cohen (D-TN-9) said that inflation was “not Joe Biden’s fault.”
“In Europe, gas prices have risen even higher than here and inflation is running at 8-10 percent. Inflation is a worldwide problem. It is not Joe Biden’s fault but we are doing what we can,” he said in a tweet.
In an exclusive press statement obtained by The Tennessee Star, TN-5 Republican primary candidate Maury County Mayor Andy Ogles called for the Democrat-controlled U.S. House and U.S. Senate to immediately pass a 90-day moratorium on federal gasoline and diesel taxes.
“The absurd and destructive energy policies of the Biden Administration and the Democrat-controlled House and Senate, are producing the highest gas and diesel prices in history!” Ogles said. “As Democrats refuse to consider returning to the pre-Biden energy policies that had gas prices in the $2.20 range, the least they can do is give families a break this summer as we struggle with the Biden-flation caused by his inept and misguided energy and economic policies.”
The price for a gallon of gas jumped over 25 cents in just a matter of hours from morning to afternoon in the Bellevue section of Nashville.
Several gas stations went from $4.39 per gallon of regular fuel to $4.65 in just 6 hours.
U.S. Representative Chuck Fleischmann (R-TN-3) blasted the Biden administration’s “war on American energy” on Wednesday.
Fleischmann said in a tweet, “High gas prices are a policy choice of this Administration and one-party Congress. It’s time to end the war on American energy.”
