Lt. Governor Randy McNally ‘Grateful for the Support of My Caucus’ after Surviving State Senate Republican Caucus’ Vote of Confidence

Lieutenant Governor Randy McNally won a vote of confidence Monday from members of the Tennessee Senate Republican Caucus. In total, 19 members voted in support of McNally’s continued leadership as Lt. Governor while seven did not, according to a statement emailed to media following the private caucus vote.

“I have always been honored, humbled and grateful for the support of my caucus. I remain so today,” McNally said. “We have a lot of important work left to do as we complete the legislative session, including the budget. I look forward to getting to it.”

State Rep. Todd Warner Calls on Lt. Gov. Randy McNally to Resign Immediately

Following Lieutenant Governor Randy McNally’s bizarre social media postings on his official government Instagram account, State Representative Todd Warner (R-Chapel Hill) called on him to resign immediately, saying the 79-year-old lieutenant governor was a “predator.”

“Not only have Tennessee Republicans now become the laughingstock of the nation, the bottom line is this: Randy McNally is a predator,” Warner began in a statement released on Thursday.

Democrats’ gubernatorial nominee Stacey Abrams announced Thursday on Twitter that her candidate of choice to be Georgia’s next Lieutenant Governor is Charlie Bailey.

“I am proud to endorse my friends Bee Nguyen for Secretary of State, Charlie Bailey for Lieutenant Governor and William K. Boddie Jr. for Labor Commissioner. They are proven leaders we need in office to ensure Georgia becomes a state where everyone has the opportunity to thrive,” Abrams wrote.

VPAP Provides Infographic Explaining Complex Process of Becoming a Delegate to Virginia GOP Convention

The Virginia Public Access Project has provided additional information about the delegate registration and vote counting processes for the 2021 Republican Party of Virginia unassembled convention. The May 8th convention will determine the Republican nominees for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Attorney General.  The Virginia Star has previously covered the process, and VPAP provided additional detail about changes made to the delegate selection and counting process.

The process is very different from a traditional primary with a polling location in each neighborhood. For one to become a delegate to the convention, one must file a pre-file form with your local Republican committee. Then, one must show up to one of the 30+ voting locations across the Commonwealth as assigned per voting locality.

Despite Allegations, Virginia Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax Enters Race for Governor

Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax formally kicked off his campaign for governor Saturday, a year after facing two allegations of sexual assault.

Fairfax delivered a campaign speech at the Old Court House in Fairfax in northern Virginia.

In February 2019, Fairfax faced calls for his resignation from fellow Democrats after two women publicly accused him of sexual assault.
