Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) slammed President Biden for failing on his foreign policy decisions and his pledge to “unite” the country, during separate interviews with Fox News.
According to the Wisconsin senator, Biden has allowed other countries to advance their priorities, while undermining those of the U.S. For example, when Biden took office, he ended construction of the Keystone XL pipeline; however, he later reduced sanctions on Russia’s Nord Stream 2 Pipeline.

“The city comes in to being for the sake of life, but it continues for the sake of the good life. ” — Aristotle, Politics
“[The Declaration of Independence] was the word, “fitly spoken” which has proved an “apple of gold” to us. The Union, and the Constitution, are the picture of silver, subsequently framed around it. The picture was made, not to conceal, or destroy the apple; but to adorn, and preserve it. The picture was made for the apple — not the apple for the picture.”—Abraham Lincoln, “Fragment on the Constitution and Union”
The crisis of our time requires clear thinking about political means and ends, and the ways they are connected. The two epigraphs above address this central question of practical wisdom—the first from the general perspective of theory, the second as relates to the particular nation of the United States. Both quotations may be familiar to educated conservatives, and particularly to those students of political philosophy broadly associated with the Claremont school of thought. Yet there is a danger that such familiarity may breed, if not contempt, then the forgetfulness that settles on “sonorous phrases” which lapse into clichés. I would like to reconsider these arguments made by Aristotle and Lincoln—along with some related observations by James Madison and Thomas Jefferson—not as hackneyed commonplaces but as genuine insights that remain relevant and even urgent. Circumstances in the coming years may require new or unusual means to secure the ends of liberty and justice. Our thinking must be appropriately radical.

Nothing feels right about what is happening in America. Not the fraudulent election results, not the politicized court rulings, and not the biased media coverage. All have converged in a perfect storm to steal this election from Donald Trump. I don’t believe for one second that Creepy, Sleepy, Hidin’ Joe Biden won this election. If he is sworn into office, it will be the result of a well-orchestrated voter fraud scheme, biased judges, and a mainstream media-Big Tech alliance to censor the news.

On New Year’s Eve, four of my siblings, their spouses, and I gathered at my sister’s house in Asheville, North Carolina. A table covered with side dishes and hors d’oeuvres, wonderful conversations and reminiscences, and glasses raised at midnight: it was a memorable New Year’s Eve party.

by Richard Lim Sept. 19 was the 222nd anniversary of the publication of President George Washington’s Farewell Address. Appearing in newspapers nationwide, it announced Washington’s intention to retire from public life after his second term. For most of American history, the Farewell Address was required reading in grade schools across the nation and was continually invoked in the public discourse. Yet in recent decades, the address has faded into obscurity. That’s a shame, as it is a treasure trove of wisdom from the man who did the most to create our country—who knew, as well as anyone else, what it took to create a modern, large-scale republic. After all, it was Washington who led the nation through the War of Independence, oversaw the drafting of the Constitution, and served as its first president. Washington addressed the document specifically to the American people—not just to policymakers—and recommended that they give his advice their “frequent review.” The Farewell Address is mostly known for its warnings against political parties and entangling alliances during the nation’s youth. Certainly, Washington made those points, and offered practical advice on a wide array of other subjects. They include making permanent the powers of the federal government,…
