Ohio Gubernatorial Candidate Jim Renacci Knocks Biden’s Discussion of Intel in State of the Union Speech

Jim Renacci, a former congressman and candidate running for Ohio governor, knocked President Joe Biden over his discussion of Intel during his State of the Union address.

In the address, Biden connected future investments made by the company to legislation that would increase funding for semiconductor manufacturing.

“That would be one of the biggest investments in manufacturing in American history. And all they’re waiting for is for you to pass this bill. So let’s not wait any longer. Send it to my desk. I’ll sign it. And we will really take off,” Biden said.

However, Renacci raised concerns over the demand for new legislation.

“I am alarmed by Biden’s comments tonight that the CEO of Intel has told him any further investment in our country is pre-conditioned on the passage of his left-wing spending bill. This is not patriotism. It’s woke corporate activism. If this is what Intel is telling Joe Biden, what promises did they extract from Mike DeWine? I hope DeWine has not become a colluding cog in Biden’s political machine to pass Build Back Better, but it wouldn’t be surprising given his record as governing Ohio like a blue-state liberal. Change is coming soon!” he said in a statement.

According to the initial investment, the project will provide 3,000 jobs to Ohio and projects that 7,000 construction employees will work to build the factory.

“Intel’s new facilities will be transformative for our state, creating thousands of good-paying jobs in Ohio manufacturing strategically vital semiconductors, often called ‘chips.’ Advanced manufacturing, research and development, and talent are part of Ohio’s DNA, and we are proud that chips – which power the future – will be made in Ohio, by Ohioans,” Governor Mike DeWine said during the initial announcement.
