Georgia 7th Congressional District Republican nominee Mark Gonsalves recently confronted his general election opponent, former 6th Congressional District Representative Lucy McBath, on Twitter for her history of supporting Bidenomics.
Gonsalves spoke with The Georgia Star News on Thursday.
“I understand economics and business and this inflationary environment we’re in is because the government has turned its back on good fiscal governance. They think that they can return our nation to Energy dependence and tax and spend their way to prosperity. In the process, because of their limitless spending, it’s created an incredible level of inflation we haven’t seen for 40 years,” Gonsalves said.
Gonsalves criticized both Biden and McBath in light of another record month of inflation, with an increase of 9.1 percent over the past 12 months.
“This is how you go from 1 percent inflation to 9 percent so rapidly … . The Biden administration, along with my opponent Lucy McBath, has no business experience and we are paying a very big price. [District] #ga7 is starting to pay attention now that they are really feeling it in [their] wallets and 401(k)s,” Gonsalves said on Wednesday.
The GOP primary runoff winner pointed out McBath’s history of support for Biden when he spoke with The Star News.
“My opponent has sided with this president and Nancy Pelosi virtually 100 percent of the time, and hardworking Georgians are paying the price,” he said.
Gonsalves asserted that his past business experience makes him the better candidate than someone with socialist tendencies.
“Inflation is out of control thanks to the Biden administration’s America-last policies. My GA-7 opponent Lucy McBath has rubber-stamped this economic meltdown with every vote she’s placed in Congress. Time for a proven businessperson to end her radical socialist agenda,” Gonsalves said.
Gonsalves also called out McBath for the fact her residence is officially not in the 7th Congressional District. Tax documents previously revealed that in 2018, when McBath ran for Congress, she was not a permanent resident.
“Congressmen and congresswomen should live in the district they represent. We cannot afford to send leftist Lucy McBath back to Washington. Her policies destroyed one district, we cannot let her destroy the community we call home,” Gonsalves said.
Gonsalves, who met with Governor Kemp on Wednesday night, also recently criticized the mainstream media and the Federal Reserve.
“With the Fed very likely to get aggressive raising interest rates to try to curb Biden’s inflation, let’s see how long it takes for MSM to report the impact it has on what we pay in interest on our $30-plus-trillion national debt,” Gonsalves said.
“The number will shock you. A real house of cards,” he added.
The Georgia Star News made multiple attempts to contact McBath, but the congresswoman did not respond to a request for comment by press time.
