Live from Music Row, Thursday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. – host Leahy welcomed all-star panelist Roger Simon and MAGA rapper Bryson Gray in-studio to discuss Gray’s new single, “Ashley’s Diary.“
Leahy: Ladies and gentlemen, the cool factor of The Tennessee Star Report has just increased by well over 1,000 percent. And the reason is because not only are we joined in-studio by our all-star panelist, Academy Award-nominated screenwriter Roger Simon. Hey, Roger. Good morning.
Simon: Good morning. I raised the cool factor at least 5,000 percent.
Leahy: At least. But we’re also joined in-studio by the great MAGA rapper Bryson Gray. Good morning Bryson.
Gray: Good morning. Good morning. How are you?
Leahy: Well, I am delighted to have you in here, Bryson. And again, cool factor. But I never thought I would be in the same room as a very cool MAGA rapper and an Academy Award-nominated screenwriter. But here we are. I have no cool at all.
Simon: Don’t be so modest.
Leahy: Ultimate cool with Bryson. Tell us what you’ve been doing. What’s your latest song? And then we want to talk a little bit to bring the two of you together about a topic since you both moved to Tennessee. Tell us, what’s your latest song?
Gray: I release a song every single Friday, by the way. And my last song was called “Ashley’s Diary.” (Laughter) And it was about Ashley Biden’s diary.
Simon: Ohhhh.
Leahy: Ohhh. Is it things like, hey, Daddy, why are you taking a shower with me?
Simon:Â Did you record it in the shower? (Laughter)
Gray: That definitely was the topic. I read it. I got 40 pages in and I was like, this is disgusting.
Leahy: Of course, it’s very controversial. Of course, the FBI is involved in it.
Simon: They’re involved in squelching it.
Leahy: Allegedly, I don’t know, She’s 40 years old. She’s had drug problems her whole life. She’s the daughter of Jill Biden, of course, the first lady, and Joe Biden, the second wife of Joe Biden. His first wife died tragically in an automobile accident. But she’s kind of had a very goofed-up life, shall we say.
Simon: By the way, I watched the new movie My Son Hunter.
Leahy: Oh yeah.
Simon: We can talk about that in the second hour.
Leahy: Let’s talk about “Ashley’s Diary,” this new song. So the diary, she left it at a halfway house. She was getting drug rehab. Somebody there took it, they purloined it, and it ended up in the hands of Project Veritas. The FBI got involved. There’s a big mess involved in it. But you got a copy of it?
Gray: The copy of it’s public, they have it, because her handwriting is kind of crazy. So they actually rewrote it for people and everything. It’s just about a daughter’s lifestyle, for the most part.
Leahy: Yikes! She’s kind of had a whole series of personal problems her whole life.
Simon: Given that father, that’s what happens.
Gray: That’s what I say in the song.
Leahy: Allegedly, in the diary, she said as a little girl, she was taking a shower with her dad, right?
Gray: Yes.
Leahy: Is that a part of the lyrics?
Gray: Yes, but in the context of it, she was talking about why she became sexualized. She was talking about a few reasons why she believed she became sexualized. She said one of the reasons was that she felt like her dad was taking inappropriate showers with her. She called it inappropriate herself.
Simon: To say the least.
Leahy: Yikes!
Simon: This guy is pretty weird.
Leahy: That’s why I say “legal but not legitimate president of the United States, grifter in chief.”
Simon: Not legitimate, and kinky.
Gray: When you read it, it is very weird, stuff about, showing people and discussing (unintelligible) in second grade. It is the craziest diary.
Leahy: So what are some of the lyrics? Can you say some of the lyrics of it or not? (Laughter) Look, we don’t want to get in trouble with the FCC. Can you self-censor?
Simon: Give us the beep. I’ll do the beeping for you.
Gray: I’m really trying to think of the lyrics. I make so many songs that I can’t even think about it right now.
Leahy: Where do people get Ashley’s Diary?
Gray: It’s on my YouTube channel. It’s on my Twitter, and it’s also on my Rumble.
Simon: I got to check that one out.
Leahy: What’s your YouTube channel?
Gray: Bryson Gray. Just type in my name. B-R-Y-S-O-NÂ G-R-A-Y.
Leahy: I got to see this.
Simon: I have to check this out.
Leahy: The other thing to connect the two of you …
Simon: I won’t let any young people near it, though.
Leahy: No, you can’t do that. Roger, you moved here from Los Angeles, California four years ago? And you moved here, Bryson, from North Carolina two years ago because …
Gray: It was turning blue.
Leahy: Turning blue.
Gray: Yes. North Carolina is turning blue now.
Leahy: Here’s the big question – and we’ll get to this after we interview Naomi Wolf in our next segment, the feminist who’s suing Twitter probably going to resume her lawsuit – you’re telling me that in the two years you’ve been here, Tennessee’s moving a little bit in the wrong direction?
Gray: Yes, it is obvious.
Leahy: And really, what’s the biggest example of that?
Gray: When you walk around, it’s really the type of people you see. (Laughs)
Leahy: Okay, we’ll get to that when we get back.
