Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate Tim Michels released a new economic plan that, he contends, will put “Wisconsin first.”
The candidate, who received the endorsement of former President Donald Trump, supported lower taxes and an increase in economic investments.
“Having an experienced, proven business leader in Madison will allow our state to produce a strong, more sustainable economy,” Michels said. “Tony Evers has no idea how to grow a successful business. I’ve spent my entire life creating jobs. I will do the same as governor.”
Specifically, Michels advocated to:
- Compete with neighboring states by reducing corporate and individual income taxes to attract and retain more talent in Wisconsin.
- Increase American energy production and distribution to provide low-cost and reliable energy for families and businesses all across the state.
- Eliminate the personal property tax.
- Recruit out-of-state veterans to join the Wisconsin workforce by improving VA hospitals and providing businesses with hiring incentives.
- Leverage our water and work ethic to make Wisconsin the premier manufacturing hub for the military defense industry.
Other provisions focus on education, public safety, and access to broadband internet.
“We have seen too many career politicians spend money we don’t have, increase gas prices, drive up the cost of goods, and put our state in an unsustainable position. It is going to take someone from outside of politics to help fix the mess,” said Michels. “I’ve led large teams to do big things and create thousands of jobs. I’m coming from outside of the government to help shake up the status quo and get Wisconsin back on the right track.”
Michels is running in the GOP primary to take on Democrat Governor Tony Evers. Polling has indicated that he leads former Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch.
