Wisconsin Rep. Scott Fitzgerald (R-WI-05) signed a letter demanding answers from the Biden Administration regarding their handling of the border crisis. Fitzgerald said that “Biden continues to neglect the very crisis he enabled at the border.”
He wrote, “We’re past 1.2 [million] apprehensions this year [and] the trend shows no signs of slowing.” Fitzgerald continued, “It’s past due [that] the [Biden Administration] take the border crisis seriously.”
Biden continues to neglect the very crisis he enabled at the border. We’re past 1.2M apprehensions this year & the trend shows no signs of slowing. I joined my colleagues in demanding answers from the President himself. It’s past due the Admin. take the border crisis seriously. https://t.co/aj3uQF1pDt

The letter, initially sent by Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ-05), was signed by 33 members of Congress, including Wisconsin Representative Glenn Grothman (R-WI-06).
Biggs said, “It is well past time for President Biden to acknowledge the border crisis that he has created and enforce laws to secure the border. Biden has worked overtime to erase Trump administration policies and programs, like Remain in Mexico, that were securing our border and discouraging illegal immigration. We are demanding that the President provide Congress with accurate information about the extent of the border crisis so that we can understand the full impact of his open border policies.”
The letter was addressed to President Biden and says that “The American people are fed up with false reassurances that the border is closed.”
The letter blames Biden for the crisis. “Your weak border policies and your obsession with undoing President Trump’s successful border security policies, such as the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP), created the humanitarian crisis,” the letter reads.
According to the letter, President Biden was court-ordered to restart the MPP by Texas District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk, but failed to do so. The letter claims that Biden is “still working to terminate MPP.”
They wrote that “If DHS was implementing MPP as ordered, the aliens entering the United States in Texas would be returned to Mexico instead of being released into the interior of the United States.”
The letter asks that Biden reinstate MPP as well as expand “detention capacity” so that any illegal immigrants who are “subject to mandatory detention” and not placed in MPP, can be “detained as required by law.”
They said that in their opinion, “further delay in restarting MPP is harmful to the safety and sovereignty of our nation.”
The letter closed by requesting that the Biden Administration and President Biden respond to several questions regarding the border crisis by October 22.
