Both gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake, and the Republican National Committee (RNC), on her behalf, responded to President Joe Biden’s Thursday night speech wherein he derided supporters of former President Donald Trump as potential violent threats to the United States.
Lake said:
“I watched the most absurd, frankly obscene address I’ve ever seen a president give to the American people…what I saw with him was someone who carries in his heart a great deal of disdain for a whole lot of really good American people.”
Washington DC never wants an outsider because it ruins their political agenda when somebody comes in from the outside.”
“Real American people are stepping up and they don’t like the political leadership they’ve been given. They don’t like what’s happening with Joe Biden in office.”
“We’re seeing American citizens, moms and dads, citizens stepping forward and running for office. And Joe Biden is threatened by that. And people like Katie Hobbs, people who are career politicians, are threatened by real individuals who are stepping forward.”
The RNC compared Biden to Lake’s Democrat opponent, Secretary of State Katie Hobbs.
“Joe Biden and his mini-me Katie Hobbs claim they’re all about ‘unity,’ only to turn around and slander half the country,” the RNC said. “Last night, Joe Biden showed where his priorities lie, and it’s not with Arizonans. Biden didn’t mention the issues Arizonans say matter most – including inflation, the economy, the border, or crime. Instead, he focused on dividing and baselessly smearing millions of Americans.”
“Biden and Katie Hobbs are two peas in a pod. Katie Hobbs labeled the people who voted for President Trump as neo-Nazis,” said the release. “Instead of apologizing for calling half the country neo-Nazis, Hobbs doubled down.”
As reported by The Arizona Sun Times, Hobbs, in a Tweet that is still active on her account, said Trump supporters were neo-Nazis.
“[President Donald Trump] has made it abundantly clear he’s more interested in pandering to his neo-nazi base than being [president] for all Americans,” she said in 2017. “I mean, we already knew this, right?”

The Lake campaign has addressed Hobb’s labeling before, comparing her to Hillary Clinton.
“Katie Hobbs is similar to Hillary Clinton – she despises working-class Americans and admonishes them for having different political beliefs,” Lake’s chief strategist Billy Grant told The Sun Times in August. “Kari Lake is focused on uniting Arizona behind her vision for the future. Katie Hobbs will continue to be divisive, while Kari Lake brings together Arizonans from all walks of life to support her campaign for governor.”
