Neil W. McCabe, the national political editor of The Star News Network, interviewed Tennessee farmer and World Series champion pitcher Curt Schilling about his support for Arizona GOP gubernatorial hopeful Kari Lake.

McCabe: Tennessee farmer Curt Schilling is one of the greatest pitchers to ever play the game, and he was a key part of three World Series championships, including one for the Arizona Diamondbacks, where he played for four seasons. Schilling told The Arizona Sun Times and The Star News Network why he supports Republican Kari Lake for governor of Arizona.
Schilling: Listen, if you want to understand how good she is, just read her Wikipedia page because it’s clearly been perused and worked over by a Biden loyalist, and the amount of vile hatred and lies on it alone tell you that she’s living life morally and ethically on the good side.
McCabe: Schilling said he first looked into Lake when he was exploring his own possible return to Arizona so that he could run in the state’s 3rd Congressional District. He said he was impressed by Lake’s conservatism and her understanding of what was at stake.
Schilling: I actually dug a little bit into Kari when I was considering coming home and running for office. I fell in love with her for all the reasons conservatives would.
One of the things that I love about Kari is, I think, like any good politician, she recognizes the federal government needs to be much smaller and much less intrusive.
McCabe: The pitcher with a higher winning percentage than Bob Gibson and half the hit batsman said as governor, Lake will attack the trouble at the border, a problem he has witnessed firsthand.
Schilling: I’ve been down to the border. I went down to the border. I spent a couple of days down there. I got to talk to the sheriff who runs the worst part of the border and the transition from Trump to Biden was everything we thought it would be.
It was an epic disaster. More people were getting killed, and are getting killed, because of this incredibly lame anti-American policy. Kari is literally in the seat at the tip of the spear.
