Joe Biden on Wednesday appeared to commit an awkward gaffe when at a White House conference he apparently attempted to search for a Republican representative who died last month.
Biden was giving an address at the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition & Health, during which at one point he commended organizers for “including bipartisan elected officials” in the event.
The president listed off several attendees including “Rep. McGovern, Sen. Braun, [and] Sen. Booker.” The president then added “Rep…Jackie, are you here?” while staring out into the audience.
“Where’s Jackie?” he added. “I think…she was going to be here.”
"Jackie are you here? Where's Jackie?"

The “Jackie” appears to be a reference to Rep. Jackie Walorski, an Indiana representative who died last month in a car crash.
Walorski was among the four Capitol Hill politicians who last year introduced the “bipartisan, bicameral bill that would convene a second national White House conference on food, nutrition, hunger, and health.” The other three were Rep. James McGovern, Sen. Cory Booker and Sen. Mike Braun, the officials named by Biden at the event on Wednesday.
Walorski died along with her communications director and district director in Nappanee, Ind., last month, in an accident that investigators claimed occurred after Walorski’s district director attempted to overtake a truck.
