President Donald Trump on Friday warned European nations that they would face a 100% tariff on their goods if they imposed a digital services tax on American companies.

“Numerous European Countries have been discussing the imminent implementation of a Digital Services Tax on American Companies,” he posted on Truth Social. “Some of these Countries are close to actually doing this. Please let this statement serve to represent that any Country that imposes such a Tax will immediately be met with a 100% TARIFF on any and all Goods sent to the United States of America.”

“This TARIFF will supersede Trade Deals made with the Country, whether implemented, signed, or not. Additionally, the 100% TARIFF will be immediately imposed, if they proceed. Thank you for your attention to this matter,” he added.

Trump has pursued trade deals with nearly every nation since his imposition of “Liberation Day” tariffs in April 2025. He previously reached a trade agreement with the European Union, though he appears poised to potentially disrupt it in favor of the retaliatory tariff.

Regarding Trump’s Liberation Day tariffs, the Supreme Court ruled that Trump did not have the authority to issue them.

After the decision, Trump said on Truth Social, “The Supreme Court’s Ruling on TARIFFS is deeply disappointing! I am ashamed of certain Members of the Court for not having the Courage to do what is right for our Country. I would like to thank and congratulate Justices Thomas, Alito, and Kavanaugh for your Strength, Wisdom, and Love of our Country, which is right now very proud of you. When you read the dissenting opinions, there is no way that anyone can argue against them. ”

“Foreign Countries that have been ripping us off for years are ecstatic, and dancing in the streets — But they won’t be dancing for long!” he added.
