Study: One-Third of American Teens Already Has Prediabetes or Type 2 Diabetes

BREAKING NEWS

Study Finds   Walk into any middle school classroom in America and look around. Statistically, about one in three of those kids already has prediabetes or type 2 diabetes (T2DM), conditions most people associate with overweight adults in their 40s and 50s. That is the central finding of a new study, and it is as alarming as it sounds. Researchers analyzed federal health data on nearly 2,000 adolescents ages 10 to 19 and found that 30.8 percent had blood sugar levels in the prediabetes or type 2 diabetes range. To be clear, the overwhelming majority of those cases were prediabetes. Only five participants out of 1,998 had a confirmed type 2 diabetes diagnosis. But prediabetes in a teenager is far from trivial. Left unaddressed, it can become the real thing. That figure comes from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), a nationally representative program run by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, covering 2021 through 2023. It reflects a trend building for more than two decades, driven by rising obesity rates, sedentary lifestyles, and diets heavy in processed food. What makes the numbers especially concerning is what youth-onset diabetes actually means for a child’s future. Previous research shows that type 2…

More Evidence Emerges: Biden, Fulton County DA Willis Coordinated to Ensnare Trump in Prosecutions

Fani Willis

The newly released memos from the Fulton County District Attorney’s office provide the latest evidence that Joe Biden’s administration was at the center of trying to bog down his chief Republican rival, Donald Trump, by ensnaring him with federal and state level charges during the 2024 campaign, lawmakers and legal experts say.

Memos from District Attorney Fani Willis’ office, which were obtained earlier this week by Just the News through a Georgia open records lawsuit, provide the most extensive evidence to date that the Fulton County prosecutor coordinated extensively with the Biden Justice Department and White House as well as Democrats on the House Jan. 6 investigative committee as she built her failed criminal case against the then-former president.

The memos show that President Joe Biden’s top White House lawyer personally opened the door for Willis’ prosecutors to interview Trump administration officials by waiving claims of executive privilege, that federal prosecutors waived certain rights to allow the interviews to proceed before a state grand jury and that Willis’s team spoke glowingly of the congressional efforts to expose Trump’s involvement in the disputed election.

Thune: No Agreement Among GOP Senators on Talking Filibuster

BREAKING NEWS

The Hill   Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) told reporters Wednesday that there’s not enough consensus in the Senate Republican conference to increase the chances of advancing voting reform by forcing Democrats to wage an arduous talking filibuster in order to block the House-passed legislation. Thune warned that forcing Democrats to hold the floor continuously with speeches to make it tougher for them to filibuster the SAVE Act would require getting 50 Republicans to agree on the strategy — and he said Senate Republicans aren’t there yet. “If we were to go down that path, it’s very hard to pivot and get back to open up the government,” Thune said, referring to funding for the Department of Homeland Security that lapsed on Feb. 14.
