Rece Davis is set to host College GameDay and will be joined by analysts Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee, and former Alabama head coach Nick Saban. Pete Thamel, “Stanford Steve” Coughlin, Jen Lada, and Jess Sims will also be part of the broadcast.
Following the pregame show, Herbstreit will join Chris Fowler and Holly Rowe on ABC’s lead broadcast team for the Tennessee-Texas matchup.
The Vols enter the game 3-0 overall and 0-0 in SEC play after opening the season with wins over Furman, Georgia Tech, and Kennesaw State. Tennessee opened the season with a 56-9 victory over Furman, followed it with a 45-24 win at Georgia Tech, and defeated Kennesaw State 42-9 on Saturday.
Tennessee is ranked No. 15 in the Associated Press poll and No. 14 in the coaches poll entering the matchup.
The Volunteers have scored 143 points through their first three games while allowing 42 points.
Saturday’s game will mark Tennessee’s 13th time hosting ESPN College GameDay in Knoxville. The program’s previous Knoxville appearances include the 2022 matchups against Florida and Alabama and the 2025 meeting with Georgia.
Neyland Stadium is sold out for the 30th consecutive game. Tennessee is holding its “Checker Neyland” promotion for the Texas game, with fans assigned to wear orange or white based on their seating sections.
Texas and Tennessee have met just three times, with Texas holding a 2-1 series advantage, including a 36-13 victory over the Vols in the 1969 Cotton Bowl. Saturday’s game marks the first regular-season meeting between the programs, as all three previous matchups took place in the Cotton Bowl.
