Some of country music’s biggest stars and personalities have spoken out against the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade in the days after the decision was made.
“Today, I hold my 2-year-old son with tears streaming down my face because all my love and planning still wasn’t enough to protect him from being born in a country who could do this to women. Women, the ones who gave each Supreme Court justice on the bench the right to be here, the dexterity of their pen hand,” Maren Morris, known for her hit song “The Middle,” said. “Tomorrow I will fight, but today I am grieving.”
She also lambasted male country music singers for their silence in the wake of the decision.
“Guess we’re just here to raise your babies to not grow up to be cowboys,” she said, replying to country music radio show host Nada Taha after Taha complained that not enough male musicians had spoken out.

Nashville star Kelsea Ballerini also spoke out against the decision, calling the decision “horrifying,” and reposting a message from Glamour Magazine that said “For 10,050 days, access to abortion was a constitutional right in America.”
Taylor Swift, less a Nashville country music star today than in the past, but an international music icon, also chimed in.
“I’m absolutely terrified that this is where we are – that after so many decades of people fighting for women’s rights to their own bodies, today’s decision has stripped us of that,” Swift said on Twitter in response to former First Lady Michelle Obama’s statement on the issue.

Jason Isbell is a longtime country music performer, well known for his left-leaning opinions.
Isbell wrote the song “Cover Me Up,” which became vastly more popular after it was covered by country stars Morgan Wallen and the Zac Brown Band.
“If you’re gonna talk about how divided we are as a nation, you’ll want to mention SCOTUS decisions like this one, handing power to state reps in crazy-ass gerrymandered districts and completely ignoring the will of the majority of U.S. citizens. This is not what the people want,” Isbell said.

When a Twitter user argued to Isbell that abortion is murder, he compared a baby in the womb to a chicken egg.

These women don’t have a clue what they are talking about. Their music careers hardly prepared them with a skill set to intellectually discuss this or any topic aside from music. What the Supreme Court did was return decision making to the state and to the respective legislatures. Many Constitutional attorneys and former Supreme Court Justices have stated that Roe v Wade was a far reach, not supported in the constitution in their 1973 ruling. Look it up, there no reference to abortion in the constitution. Likewise the fear mongering left is trying to infuse discord that the over turning Roe v Wade is a precedent in allowing the courts to overturn LBGQT, inter-racial marriage and contraception. Those are simply lies that are picked up by under educated zealots such as musicians and actors who then “run with it” not having a clue as to accuracy or applicability.

And to the illustrious Mr. “eggs ain’t chickens”- maybe he needs to be shown a little video- up close and personal- of a partial birth abortion taking place- the one where the doc rips and suctions the arms and legs off of a writhing , cringing , human “fetus”, before finally stabbing her in the back of her tiny neck with a pair of scissors – because hey, it has to be born before it can be murdered, right Mr. “Eggs”?

Apparently Taylor Swift didn’t spend quite enough time attending classes in Hendersonville High School and Aaron Academy to learn to distinguish between enumerated powers and powers reserved for the states.
No surprising that these self-centered, spoiled brats are in favor of murdering babies. They make me want to puke.
The issue of Rove vs Wade is about states or federal government having the authority to rule on abortions. Nothing more, nothing less.
This is NOT about women’s losing rights, this is about each state having the right to rule on abortion.
In 1973 the United States Supreme Court took away the rights of states to rule over abortions. In 2022 the United States Supreme Court returned the rights to all states to rule over abortions. Abortions are still LEGAL in many parts of this country; it is not unlawful to get an abortion in such places as New York or California.
If you want an abortion and do not agree with your state’s majority stance on abortion, I suggest you relocate to a state that has laws you agree with.
The one thing that makes this America, 50 DIFFERENT states come together to work as a whole for the betterment of all. All 50 states have different views, opinions and attitudes on many different things. Giving states the power to rule on issues that the majority in that state want is one of the things that make this nation so diversified.
I’m glad to see several female (along with some MALE) country music artists are speaking out against the latest SCOTUS decision to overturn Roe. Maybe enough Tennesseans of both genders, both white and non-white, will have enough sense to desert the Tea Party hacks that currently control this state. Send Lee, Blackburn, Haggerty, Harwell, and Company a message: enough of this right-wing extremism in Tennessee!
I am tired of all the conversations about abortion avoiding the fact that abortions kill a defenseless person that had NO say in their existence.
There have been roughly 63 million abortions since 1973. That’s almost as many total casualties as WWII. I ask, how many Bach’s, Einstein’s, Beethovens, Martin Luther King’s, Madam Curies’, etc. that have been killed just for convenience. If you are so adamant about making decisions for your body… make the decision before you commit the act.
So, that sweet young woman from Hendersonville who sang about break-ups with high school boyfriends is now OK murdering innocent unborn babies? But this is what happens when “Hollywood” gets its grimy mitts on Country!
Of course, if these people are SO concerned, the option of moving to any other country is still available!
They do not have to move to another country, just move to another state that is more in line with their mindset on abortion.
