Crom’s Crommentary: Across the Country There Is Combination of Lawlessness That’s Been Building for the Last Two Years

Live from Music Row Friday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. – host Leahy welcomed the original all-star panelist Crom Carmichael to the studio for another edition of Crom’s Crommentary.

Carmichael: The woke left in the major cities where all of this crime is going on, from murders to carjackings to physical assaults to these smash and grab mob rule and retailers. You saw where Lori Lightfoot came out and said that she blamed it on the retailers for not having enough security.

And I’m not quite sure what security is supposed to do when 100 people storm your store? Are you supposed to pull out guns blazing? What are you supposed to do? There’s nothing you can do. If law enforcement doesn’t do anything, there’s nothing you can do. But here’s an interesting story out of South Texas.

You have a bunch of people in South Texas, a lot of property owners down there. Under Texas law, you can detain a trespasser. What the local community is doing is they’re arming up. And by the way, this is the natural result of a failure of the government to do what it is supposed to do to protect the citizens.

What do we, as citizens do when we decide that we will allow a certain group of people to run the government? We give up certain rights. Generally, we give up the right to keep all of our money.

We give money to the government in the expectation and the bargain is that they will at least provide the minimum security and that they’ll provide law and order.

Yes, Every Kid

And when a government breaks down and does not provide that, then the citizens themselves will provide it for themselves. That is just simple human nature.

And so what you’re seeing is you’re seeing that now all across the country. You now see London Breed, the mayor of San Francisco who allowed all of this terrible crime.

Leahy: And was in favor of defunding the police. That was a part of her platform.

Carmichael: Yes. Now she’s coming out and acting like she’s always been on the side of law and order. And she hates the idea of defunding the police. Now the question is, how will the voters react? And by the way, it is up to the voters. And this is why our federal system is so good.

Here in Tennessee, we live under a set of laws here in Tennessee, and we in Tennessee have higher expectations for our government. And if our government doesn’t protect us at the local level, then typically the state will step in and do the job that the local level doesn’t do.

But in California, the state may be worse and more corrupt than the local. So the people from California are leaving in droves. But what we’re looking at across the country is a combination of lawlessness that’s been building for the last two years.

And now we’re looking at the reaction by average people. And I think you’re going to see that momentum maintain itself politically and we’ll see what the results are next November.
