A U.S. senator from Tennessee is hammering President Joe Biden and the Democrat Party on the economy – particularly skyrocketing inflation – ahead of Tuesday’s midterm elections.
Sen. Marsha Blackburn has been focused on the topic all week.
“Companies are laying off employees, and unemployment increased to 3.7% last month,” she said Friday on Twitter, using the hashtag #BidenRecession.

“Thanks to Biden’s student loan forgiveness, inflation will worsen. What will it take for Biden to put hardworking Americans first?” Blackburn said in a Thursday tweet.

The real threat to Americans is Joe Biden’s presidency. Inflation has reached a historic 40-year high, and families are struggling to put food on the table,” she said Wednesday.

In a second Tweet on the subject from that day, she added that “Joe Biden is beyond desperate to talk about anything other than the historic 40-year high inflation he’s caused.”

Blackburn’s office did not return a Friday comment request from The Tennessee Star.
The economy is a top voting issue for Americans this year.
A shocking Harvard/Harris Poll survey conducted in August showed that Americans, including Democrats, are displeased with the state of economic affairs.
Notably, Americans believe the following, according to the poll:
- 55% of Americans blame Biden for inflation – including 42% of Democrats.
- 58% are not confident in the Biden administration’s ability to keep inflation at bay.
- Americans are worried about the Fed: 74% think the Fed will cause a recession.
- 84% of voters think the US is in a recession now or will be in one by next year.
“Biden continues to struggle on the economy, which is the key issue: 84% of Americans think the US is in a recession now or will be by next year, and 58% are not confident in Biden’s ability to hold inflation at bay,” the poll said.
