Last weekend a Twitter user out of Jackson, Tenn. shared a video of actor Robert De Niro bragging he wants to punch President Donald Trump in the face — and U.S. Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN-09) shared it.
The Twitter user, who goes by @Jasonmjarrett, tagged Cohen and added his own commentary to the De Niro video:
“I believe my @RepCohen would agree in Memphis. I’m in Jackson and I feel this same sentiment.”
And, later that day, Cohen obliged and apparently endorsed De Niro’s tirade by retweeting @Jasonmjarrett’s post. Cohen offered no commentary of his own.
Does Cohen want to punch Trump in the face, as De Niro does?
No one in Cohen’s office replied to The Tennessee Star’s request for comment Tuesday.
In the video, a visibly angry De Niro hurls a number of epithets toward Trump: “stupid,” “punk,” “pig,” “con,” and “a mutt.”
“He’s an embarrassment to this country. It makes me so angry that this country has gotten to this point that this fool, this bozo, has wound up where he has. He talks how he wants to punch people in the face?” De Niro said.
“Well, I’d like to punch him in the face. This is somebody that we want for president? I don’t think so. What I care about is the direction of this country. And what I’m very very worried about is that it might go in the wrong direction with someone like Donald Trump.”
As The Star has reported several times, Cohen takes political and personal jabs at the 45th president whenever and wherever possible.
As reported in February, for instance, Cohen bragged that Trump will forever have his name tarnished with the word impeachment. It doesn’t matter that the U.S. Senate voted to acquit him, he said at the time. As reported last summer, Cohen made similar remarks several months before the U.S. House of Representatives even impeached the president. As reported last year, Cohen called Trump “the worst person in the world.” Cohen also called Trump a “paranoid, delusional individual” and said one of Trump’s rallies was on par with Nazism.

Yes I believe Ted Nugent could tell you *redacted* what happens when the other side pulls this type statement.
Dinero is a punk… it’s all acting!! I would relish going 1 on 1 with him anywhere, anytime…. just s big mouth that’s all, oh and shit for brains!!
Deniro doesn’t have the balls to do it nor does Cohen the biggest drunk of Tennessee, deniro should be in jail for the little girls he runs at his resort in the island but no one wants to talk about that
I think that is a great idea!!!!
If a Republican said that they would be in jail..
Steve Cohen is a disgrace to the great state of Tennessee.
I agree 100%
Maybe deniro & cohen need a visit from the Secret Service since threatening the President is a violation.
