First lady Melania Trump on Monday appeared with President Donald Trump to unveil the White House’s women’s health initiatives, which creates health division for them within the National Institutes of Health.
“This is a transformative moment for women in America,” she said at the Rose Garden signing. “The ‘Advancing Women’s Health to Improve Outcomes in All Phases of Life’ Executive Order establishes a new standard for women’s health in America.”
The order, which President Trump signed at the event, establishes a White House Women’s Health Task Force dedicated to ensuring that federal policy is supportive of women’s health.
The event marked a relatively rare public appearance by Melania Trump, who has generally stayed out of the spotlight during her husband’s time in the White House.
She has, however, advocated for several causes, including the reunification of families separated by the war in Ukraine.
Tennessee U.S. Rep. Diana Harshbarger, who attended the ceremony, said, “It is clear that President Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, and Secretary Kennedy have made women’s health a priority at the highest levels, and today’s executive order is yet another game changer for women and girls across America.”
“By closing the research gap and harnessing advanced research technologies, this order will get treatments and cures to women faster. The Trump administration has already delivered for women, from making my Pregnancy.gov Act a reality through Moms.gov to helping families save on fertility medications through TrumpRx and sending new moms home with the postpartum supplies they need. Today’s order builds on that serious, results-driven commitment to making care more accessible and affordable for women at every stage of life. I’m grateful for their leadership and look forward to building on this work in Congress,” she added.
