U.S. Senator Roger Marshall (R-KS) and U.S. Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH-04) released a video Monday detailing why they believe White House Chief Medical Advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci was involved with the Chinese government’s coronavirus cover-up.
Both lawmakers have been working to uncover the origins of COVID-19 over the past two years.
“We’re convinced that Dr. Fauci, Dr. [Francis] Collins knew from the get-go that this thing most likely came from a lab,” Jordan said. “And I think they took real concerted steps to make sure the country didn’t get that information, and I think you could almost say they tried to conceal that, tamp that down, and, frankly, attack people” who disagreed with them.
Marshall said the lawmakers’ efforts to get to the bottom of the origin of COVID-19 “have hit many roadblocks from Dr. Fauci.”
“Frankly, it feels like a massive cover-up and we can’t get the answers we deserve,” Marshall said.
“As a physician, I think we always need to know what, where, how, and, perhaps, why, whenever any infectious disease outbreak occurs,” he added. “Unfortunately, only complete access to all the data and samples will determine the truth. If bad actors continue to obfuscate and prevent this investigation from happening, we can’t take no for an answer.”
At a hearing last week, Marshall asked Fauci if he would stop using U.S. taxpayer dollars to fund Chinese Communist Party research projects, such as EcoHealth Alliance’s work at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
Fauci responded:
We have at the NIH and in other agencies in the federal government had very productive peer-reviewed, highly regarded research projects with our Chinese colleagues that have led to some major advances in biomedical research, so I don’t think I’d be able to tell you that we are going to stop funding Chinese. We obviously need to be careful and make sure that when we do fund them we have the proper peer review and we go through all the established guidelines.
In his video with Jordan, Marshall noted that, in January 2020 both Fauci and former NIH director Collins “described in emails and public statements there was a significant chance COVID was made and leaked from a lab in Wuhan, China.”
However, during a meeting on February 1, 2020, Marshall noted Fauci and Collins “suddenly flip-flopped and co-authored articles in respected journals like Lancet and Nature, and – oh, by the way, the national media jumped on those publications to chastise independent thinkers, and big tech used them to censor any of those who questioned Dr. Fauci.”
