Governor Brian Kemp Calls on Stacey Abrams to Resign from ‘Anti-Police Organization’

Republican Governor Brian Kemp called on his Democratic opponent Stacey Abrams to resign from the governing board of the Marguerite Casey Foundation.

According to Kemp and the Republican Governors Association, the group has repeatedly posted on social media to advocate to “#DefundthePolice” and “#AbolishthePolice”

“Stacey Abrams and her campaign staff are doing everything in their power to erase her history of supporting and advocating for anti-police initiatives that put our men and women in law enforcement at severe risk,” said Kemp’s campaign Press Secretary Tate Mitchell. “She may be able to flip flop on support for dangerous policies once she sees polling, but Stacey Abrams can’t hide from the fact that her continued service to – and willingness to profit from – the board of the Marguerite Casey Foundation is an endorsement of Defund the Police, Abolish the Police, ending cash bail, and a host of other policies that make our streets and communities more dangerous. If Abrams truly cares about keeping Georgia families safe, she should resign from this board immediately.”

Since becoming the Democratic nominee, Abrams has proposed a plan to raise the pay for law enforcement officials within the state, despite the fact that she has been paid thousands by the Marguerite Casey Foundation.

Furthermore, a recent Kemp ad also points out that Abrams agreed to “some defunding” in an interview with CNN’s Alisyn Camerota.

“Stacey Abrams is in full damage control mode and lying to voters as her support for anti-police groups is exposed,” added RGA Spokeswoman Maddie Anderson. “No matter which way Abrams attempts to spin it, the facts are clear: she made thousands of dollars serving on the governing board of a defund the police group, and she remains on the board today. Abrams must immediately resign and explain to voters why she ever joined the anti-police organization in the first place.”
