Jake Evans Calls the January 6th Committee a ‘Political Witch Hunt’

Jake Evans, the Trump endorsee who made it to Georgia’s Sixth Congressional District primary runoff against Rich McCormick, contended that the “Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol” is a “political witch hunt.”

“The hearings [Thursday] are theatre to change the topic from [the Democrats’] failing agenda,” said Evans in a statement released to supporters on Thursday.

The chairman of the January 6th Select Committee is Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS-02).

“The Democrats, with their allies in the national media, are seizing the airwaves during primetime to drive a one-sided message resulting from a one-sided investigation led by a one-sided committee,” said Evans.

Evans took the opportunity not to just criticize the partisan nature of the committee, but the status of the American economy as well.

“As Democrats fail to tame inflation and high gas prices, and as Americans continue to rebel against wacky leftist policies that have given free reign to violent criminals, they are unable to provide a vision for the future. So, what do they do? They focus on the past. This is a phony hearing just like the Russia Hoax and sham impeachments on President Trump,” the Trump-endorsed Evans said.

Evans’ campaign manager, John Mason Long, opined on the issue in the Thursday press release.

“Rich McCormick has embraced the endorsement and support of the group that represents the most liberal Republicans, like Adam Kinzinger, who’s happily playing the Democrats’ game,” Long said.

Evans recently went head-to-head against his opponent, Rich McCormick, in a debate hosted by Georgia Public Broadcasting on PBS, where he elaborated on the Select Committee.

“I’ve made this clear throughout my campaign. One of the first acts I want to do if I’m blessed enough to represent the voters of Georgia’s Sixth is disband the January 6th commission,” said Evans in the debate. The January 6th Commission is nothing but a political weapon against conservatives. There are conservatives throughout Georgia, throughout the country that are being denied their due process right to a speedy and fair trial. That is something that I will unapologetically stand up to fight against.”

Evans asserted that the sixth congressional district constituents have a chance to elect someone who will focus on issues that most directly affect American citizens.

“Republicans in the 6th District have a special opportunity this month to reject weak-kneed RINOs and elect Constitutional Representatives. As a member of the new majority in January, I’ll fight to disband this show trial and get to work on the issues that are putting a squeeze on hard working Americans,” said Evans.
