Senator Blackburn Releases New Video Highlighting How Inflation Has Impacted Tennesseans

U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) released a new video on Tuesday highlighting how inflation impacts Tennesseans.

“On the campaign trail, Joe Biden promised to cancel fossil fuels, and he’s following through on that promise. To make matters worse, he schemed with his fellow Democrats to force a $1.9 trillion spending package through Congress to fund scores of liberal pet projects. As a result, energy costs are through the roof, inflation is at a 41-year high, and gas is up 59.9%. Tennesseans have had enough. The key to lowering inflation is to stop this reckless spending,” said Senator Blackburn in a statement provided to The Tennessee Star.

Blackburn’s statement says that “top economists, including those at Morgan Stanley, have blamed President Biden’s policies for causing the worst inflation since 1981.”

The video includes comments from citizens all around the state.

“Everything I put into my crops – from diesel fuel, to crop protectants, to fertilizer – has all gone up sky high,” said Chuck from Bradley County, Tennessee.

“I’m looking at a $100 a week in gas … Two years ago, $30 would have been good for quite a while,” added Jennifer from Henry County.

“It’s definitely made my rent increase, which has been difficult as a student paying for expenses on my own,” Alexa from Hamilton County said.

“I don’t even know when I go to the store if I’m going to get what I want, and I don’t know what the price is going to be from one day to the next,” said Adrian from Hardeman County.

Gil from Blount County said in the video, “[President Biden] cannot keep inflating our currency by spending money that we do not have on programs that we do not need, without the people who are actually working having to foot the bill.”

Blackburn previously told The Tennessee Star that she believes the Biden administration is deliberately driving inflation and raising gas prices.

“When you talk to Tennesseans, they look at the steps this administration has taken – whether it’s on inflation or energy or whether it is the open border – what they are beginning to figure out is that they are doing this intentionally,” she said.

“An open border is this administration’s border plan. The rising price of gas is their intention because they shut down Keystone. They took Alaska offline. They stopped fracking. They’re not drilling offshore,” Blackburn detailed. “All of these things add to the fact that we are no longer a net exporter of energy and energy-independent. We’re importing at least 670,000 barrels of oil per day.”
