Crom’s Crommentary: Free Speech and the Right to Dissent

Live from Music Row, Monday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. – host Leahy welcomed the original all-star panelist Crom Carmichael to the studio for another edition of Crom’s Crommentary.

CROM CARMICHAEL:

What I did was with the few days we had off, I just kind of did some reading. I’m reading a book called Unsettled, which is about the different issues regarding how you think about climate change. And that’s an interesting book.

I’m not far enough into it yet to talk much about it, but there were four articles in particular that I saw that don’t exactly tie together, but they’re in the same fundamental category of the lack of free speech and where that can lead.

And the first one, I’m just going to kind of read the headlines here from The Epoch Times. Musk Blasts Claims that Reinstating Banned Twitter Accounts Puts “Lives at Risk”. Apparently, if you reinstate people now who have an opinion that is different than yours, then you can claim that that is putting lives at risk.

If that argument is allowed to stand, in fact, even if it’s given much thought at all, is an incredibly dangerous one. But then you have another one where you have Elon Musk Warns About “Woke Mind Virus” Entertainment Triggering Civilizational Suicide.

He’s talking about the entertainment industry and just how wokeness has entered the entertainment industry. And it’s taking things like pedophilia, and it’s normalizing pedophilia. And when you get to the point where you’re taking advantage of innocent 10 to 15-year-old children by adults for either sexual or financial gain, and that is then lifted up as a good thing, what he’s saying is you’re on the road to civilizational, suicide.

Then another article in The Epoch Times, and this one is about a professor researcher named Christopher Exley who’s one of the most knowledgeable and widely cited aluminum researchers in the world.

And what he’s been doing for 25 years is he’s been researching the aluminum atom and he’s now been dismissed from his job. He had been there for close to 25 years. He had been doing research that didn’t cost the university any money at all.

He raised the money that he did for his research, and it was all about aluminum. And he’s worried about two things. He’s worried about the effects of aluminum on the brain when it comes to Alzheimer’s.

And what got him fired was he was worried about aluminum atoms in vaccines and the negative effects that they may have. When he started talking about that, he lost his job. And so he was, for lack of a better term, he was canceled for having an opinion that is out of phase with the current worldwide police state when it comes to vaccines.

And on a similar note, it’s also from The Epoch Times, Dr. Retsef Levi. He is a doctor and he’s an MIT professor. Headline: Halt Vaccination of Young People Until Vaccine-Linked Myocarditis Is Studied. And so this is this particular professor’s area of research.

And he co-authored a paper that found a 25 percent rise in heart attack risks for young Israelis. So the research that’s coming out of Israel on COVID is much better, and they have a much smaller group of researchers than what’s coming out of the CDC.

But what you see is a pattern here, Michael. We’re moving more and more and more toward the same kind of police state that China has, where in China they’re much more explicit that if you say things against the state, you go to jail.

In the United States, you lose your job. I don’t think it’s a huge distance between losing your job and going to jail. But this is all about free speech and the right to dissent, which, sadly, in our country is moving in the wrong direction on a whole variety of subjects.
