Trump Asks Supreme Court to Allow White House Ballroom Construction

The Trump administration asked the Supreme Court on Friday to immediately allow construction of the White House ballroom and berated lower court judges for halting it, insisting the project must proceed for national security.

“This Project, like its predecessors, should be a matter for the President and the political process, not construction-by-injunction,” Solicitor General D. John Sauer wrote in the administration’s emergency appeal.

It brings the months-long legal battle over the president’s planned 90,000-square-foot ballroom to the justices for the first time since Trump tore down the East Wing last fall to make way for the site.
