The Boring Company, billionaire Elon Musk’s tunnel construction company, will hold a hiring event on Wednesday to recruit workers for the construction of the newly-announced Music City Loop project.

The company announced it is recruiting workers to be part of the project’s “founding team,” in roles including engineering (mechanical, electrical, civil, and software), operations (business operations, site operations, project development), production (mining, tunnel labor, welding), maintenance (industrial electrician, industrial mechanic), and others.

Individuals who are interested in applying to the Boring Company to work on the Music City Loop project or attending the hiring event scheduled for Wednesday, July 30, at 6:00 p.m. must fill out an application.

The Boring Company said Nashville was selected for the construction of the Music City Loop for the area’s “rapid growth, strong economic potential, and dedication to embracing smart, forward-looking infrastructure.”

The tunnel, which will be 100 percent privately funded by the Boring Company, will use underground tunnels beneath state-owned roadways to connect downtown and the Convention Center to Nashville International Airport with a transit time of approximately 8 minutes, according to the infrastructure company.

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee said the state’s partnership with the Boring Company “represents the kind of forward-thinking, fiscally responsible approach that will define the future of transportation in Tennessee.”

The project is now subjected to a public process to evaluate “potential routes, engage community stakeholders, and finalize plans for the project’s initial 10-mile phase,” according to the Boring Company.

Upon final approval, construction of the Music City Loop will begin immediately, with the first segment of the loop system expected to be operational as soon as spring 2026.

U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said he anticipates construction of the Music City Loop to conclude in two years.
