Conservative media commentator, radio host, and media founder Clay Travis on Monday announced a $20,000 reward for information about the death of Cameron Frierson, the 16-year-old Hunters Lane High School student who was fatally shot at a North Nashville football game that Travis attended.
Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) confirmed the shooting on Saturday, announcing that Frierson was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, but succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment. Police said witnesses reported seeing the fatal shots fired from a white sedan with tinted windows.
During his radio program, Travis revealed he attended the high school football game where Frierson was later shot.
“I went to a high school football game over the weekend. My son’s team, Montgomery Bell Academy, played against Pearl-Cohn, a public school in Nashville,” said Travis, revealing that he grew up in the area and could have attended Hunters Lane as a teenager.
“There’s a $5,000 reward right now,” said Travis. “I will make that a $20,000 reward. I will add $15,000 to anyone who is able to bring this killer to justice, who killed this 16-year-old boy.”
He stated, “I was at this game. I’ve got a 15-year-old. Any of you that have teenage boys, trying to go to a high school football game, and he got shot and killed outside afterwards. We’ve got to have way more consequences for criminal behavior, we’ve got to keep kids safe in this country, in this state, and in my city, and so I’m going to do whatever small amount I can to help bring justice in this particular case.”
A 16 year old Nashville kid, Cameron Frierson, was murdered outside a high school football game I attended Friday. There’s a $5k reward for info. I’m tripling the reward to 20k. Shooter was in a white car at Pearl-Cohn HS. If you know anything, please help pic.twitter.com/LsKUCEYQjK

A fundraiser launched by Frierson’s family described the victim as hard-working. It also revealed the 16-year-old was shot while leaving the stadium.
“Cameron was also a hardworking teenager who was trying to work two jobs so he could buy his own clothes for back to school. That was the kind of child he was, determined, responsible, and willing to work hard for what he needed,” the family wrote for the fundraiser on GoFundMe. “He had so much life ahead of him, and remembering the effort he was making for himself makes this loss even more painful for all of us who loved him.”
At press time, the family had raised more than $20,000 toward a $26,000 goal to pay for Frierson’s funeral expenses.
MNPD has requested the public call Crime Stoppers to report tips and stated that anonymous callers will still qualify for a cash reward. Police have yet to release a motive for the shooting.
