U.S. Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and Bill Hagerty (R-TN) applauded President Donald Trump’s nominees to serve as the U.S. attorneys for the western and middle districts of Tennessee.
On Tuesday, the president nominated Braden Boucek (pictured above, right) to serve as the U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Tennessee and David Michael Dunavant (pictured above, left) to serve as the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee, as previously reported by The Tennessee Star.
Both roles carry a four-year term.
In the weeks ahead, Boucek and Dunavant will go on to testify in front of the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee and face a Senate confirmation vote before officially assuming office.
Blackburn, who is a member of the Judiciary Committee, said Trump is “keeping his promise to Make America Safe Again” by nominating Boucek and Dunavant to the respective roles.
“Both are experienced and principled federal prosecutors who know what it takes to lead a U.S. Attorney’s office. Mike and Braden will uphold the rule of law in Tennessee, restore law and order, and admirably serve the people of our incredible state. In my role on the Senate Judiciary Committee, I look forward to supporting their nominations and working to ensure they are swiftly confirmed,” Blackburn added.
Hagerty offered a similar sentiment, saying that the president “demonstrated his commitment to uphold the rule of law, and crush violent crime in our major cities” by nominating Boucek and Dunavant to serve as U.S. attorneys.
Noting how Dunavant served as the chief federal prosecutor for West Tennessee during the first Trump administration from 2017 to 2021, Hagerty said he “gave exemplary service to the people of Memphis and West Tennessee, and now will build on that success by continuing to aggressively work to put violent criminals behind bars.”
Hagerty also expressed confidence in Boucek, saying, “I am confident he will serve the people of Nashville and Middle Tennessee well, bringing a standout combination of experience as a federal prosecutor and innovative constitutional litigator.”
