Live from Music Row Friday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. – host Leahy welcomed the original all-star panelist Crom Carmichael to the studio for another edition of Crom’s Commentary.

CROM CARMICHAEL:

Michael, continuing on our theme of institutional memory, the institutional memory is directly proportional to the length of time that the institution has been in existence and the power that it has acquired. There are really kind of two stories here, but one of them is a very interesting article about Byron York. I have a different take a different conclusion on it. There are actually two Byron York stories here. One is how the left has treated Peter Doocy where Biden called him a stupid SOB. He said the whole words.

Leahy: By the way, we fact-checked that with Fox News and Fox Nation host Tomi Lahren. We asked her, Tomi, can we fact check this? Is it true that Peter Doocy is a stupid SOB? She said no, that’s a false statement.

Carmichael: Okay, so there you go. But what’s interesting about this is that is the question that the left-leaning media has been asking. (Leahy laughs) is, in fact, Jimmy Kimmel concluded on-air that Peter Doocy, in fact, is a stupid SOB.

Leahy: The joke that I just told, they’re actually doing that?

Yes, Every Kid

Carmichael: Oh, yes. They’re saying the fundamental question here is, was Biden correct?

Leahy: So they have fact-checked it?

Carmichael: Well, no, they haven’t fact-checked it they’ve given their own opinions. And then this person from Politico says that it makes Biden calling him that makes him more real.

Leahy: You’re kidding me?

Carmichael: No. And this is the point I’m trying to make here, Michael is that the media is an institution. It cannot help itself. Its institutional memory is no matter what a Democrat leader does, they will figure out a way to defend it. No matter how indefensible it is.

And by the way, of the American people, they’re probably speaking to maybe 10 percent or 15 percent who think that the president of the United States in calling somebody. And then he called him up and said it’s nothing personal, pal.

This reminds me of the line in The Godfather when Tessio is asking Clemenza, can you talk?

And that sounds almost exactly what Biden said when he called up Doocy. Then the other one that’s fascinating is also Byron York.

And it’s related, that Biden is pulling the whole Democrat Party down. And he went back to the 1946 midterm elections to see how a party when a President is doing badly, does in the midterms.

Going back to 1946, he said what we found is that if a president’s job approval rating is 50 percent, his party will lose 14 seats. And then goes on to say that Clinton’s approval rating in 1994 was 46 percent and he lost 53 seats.

Obama’s approval rating was 45 percent and his party lost 63 seats. And Trump was at 40 percent and his party lost 41 seats. The number of contested seats is, in fact, getting a little bit smaller. But if Biden comes in at 40 percent approval, which is quite possible.

In fact, it could even be 35 because he’s doing such a terrible job.

The red wave that could happen in the midterms, both in the House and the Senate, would be in the word unprecedented.
