Former Republican New York Rep. George Santos was sentenced to 87 months in prison Friday morning, according to multiple reports.
Santos served in the House of Representatives for nearly a year before his House colleagues expelled him in December 2023 over 23 federal charges related to wire fraud and identity theft. The former lawmaker pleaded guilty to the charges in April 2024, and prosecutors for the Eastern District of New York asked that he be sentenced to seven years in prison.
“Mr. Santos, words have consequences,” the Federal District Judge Joanna Seybert told Santos on Friday. “You got elected with your words, most of which were lies.”
Santos told the New York Times on Thursday that he was “totally resigned” to going to prison.
“I came to this world alone,” Santos reflected. “I will deal with it alone, and I will go out alone.”

This guy would still be serving in Congress were he a Demonrat. He “fudged” his way into office. Seven years for what? Murderers don’t get that. Both Sinators from CT engaged in stolen valor and should be in prison, but they’re proud-serving Demonrats. Schmuckie Schumer from NY is the most corrupt Sinator in the body and he continues to serve.
The judge sentencing Santos is a Clintonista appointee radical leftist, and we certainly know what their level of ethics are. President Trump should pardon him.
