A traveling museum celebrating America’s history and 250th anniversary will make a stop at the Wilson County Fair-Tennessee State Fair in Lebanon this week.
Freedom 250 announced that its traveling Volunteer Museum, known as “Freedom Trucks,” will be at the fairgrounds from Thursday, August 13 through Saturday, August 22.
The mobile museum is part of Freedom 250’s nationwide effort to commemorate the United States’ 250th anniversary, or Semiquincentennial, in 2026. The organization describes the exhibit as an interactive experience designed for visitors of all ages.
According to the organization, each custom-built mobile exhibit features “museum-quality interactive technology, multimedia storytelling, and hands-on experiences that highlight America’s founding and defining chapters, as well as the innovation that continues to shape our nation’s future.”
“America’s 250th anniversary is a moment to reflect on where we’ve been and inspire the next generation about America’s glowing future,” Freedom 250 spokesperson Julia Friedland said in a statement. “By bringing these interactive exhibits directly to The Volunteer State, we’re making our nation’s history accessible, engaging, and a memorable experience, especially for the many generations of Tennesseans who will carry the American story forward.”
The Freedom Trucks will be available throughout the Tennessee State Fair during the following hours: 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday, August 13-14; 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, August 15; noon to 10 p.m. Sunday, August 16; 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, August 17-21; and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, August 22.
The fair itself opens at 4 p.m. on weekdays, 10 a.m. on Saturdays and noon on Sunday. Admission gates close at 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and at 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
Freedom 250 said the Mobile Museum Tour will continue traveling nationwide throughout 2026, with additional stops being added as communities participate in the Semiquincentennial celebration.
The Freedom Trucks are also scheduled to appear September 14 in Greeneville, Tennessee at the Tusculum 232 Celebration.
