Greater Chattanooga Right to Life said it will be participating next week in a national pro-life trend.
“We, along with other pro-life people from coast to coast will take to highway overpasses during rush hour with banners bearing the simple message that ‘Abortion takes a human life,'” according to the group’s website. “This message is especially needed right now given the high stakes of the midterm election. With one election, we could lose all the ground we’ve gained this year!”
The event will be held on October 21, and is part of the national “Bridges for Life” event, where pro-lifers around the country will do the same thing.
Greater Chattanooga Right to Life did not return a Tuesday comment request.
A national group called the Pro-Life Action League appears to be the organizer of the event.
“The premise of this project is simple. Using specially designed banners, small groups of pro-life activists stationed on carefully selected highway overpasses in American cities will reach hundreds of thousands of motorists during rush hour with the message, ‘Abortion takes a human life,'” says that group’s website.
The site provides instructions on how local pro-life activists can get involved.
It helps them find a suitable bridge for the project and organize local pro-lifers for the event, and provides them with banners to wave.
“Pro-Life Action League staff will work with each local leader to select a suitable location,” according to the site. “The ideal highway overpass for this project will have sidewalks on both sides; nearby parking for your team; no obstructing signage or fencing; and multiple lanes on the highway below, with significant traffic during rush hour.”
The group also organizes prayer vigils outside abortion facilities, and coordinates one of the largest pro-life prayer vigil in the United States – the National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children – which is held annually on September 9.
