Tea Party Express Endorses Andy Ogles for Tennessee’s 5th Congressional District

The nation’s largest grassroots Tea Party political action committee, Tea Party Express, endorsed Republican candidate Andy Ogles for Tennessee’s 5th Congressional District on Thursday.

Ogles won the Republican nomination for the 5th Congressional District seat in the August primary election. He will be facing Democratic nominee Heidi Campbell in the midterm election on November 8.

In a statement, Tea Party Express Co-Founder and Chief Strategist Sal Russo began by saying, “We are pleased to support Andy Ogles for Congress because he has a demonstrated history of advocating for conservative principles and working to bring fiscal responsibility to every level of government.”

In his statement, Russo touted Ogles’ advocacy for lower taxes, economic freedom and fiscally sound policies, saying, “As the former director for Americans for Prosperity in Tennessee, Andy advocated for lower taxes and mobilized grassroots activists across the state to join with him in promoting economic freedom. And now, Mayor Andy Ogles has dedicated his time to serving the people of Maury County by supporting fiscally sound policies. In fact, his proven record of conservative leadership afforded him the privilege of being named Tennessee’s most conservative mayor.”

Russo continued, saying that while politicians like President Joe Biden and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi have “driven our economy into the ground” with their “reckless spending spree and tax-and-spend policies,” Andy Ogles has “pledged to hold Washington, D.C. politicians accountable to the people they serve and is committed to getting power hungry politicians to abide by their limited role in government.”

“I’m confident Andy Ogles will fight to champion our Tea Party principles to reduce runaway spending, decrease the size of government, and restore American prosperity, and we are pleased to endorse his campaign,” Russo’s statement concluded.

In addition to the Tea Party Express, Ogles has recently been endorsed by former President Donald Trump, as previously reported by The Tennessee Star.

Ogles has also been endorsed by Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) who will appear with him at a rally in Franklin on October 26.

Tennessee early voting runs from October 19 through November 3, with a November 1 deadline for requesting a mail-in ballot. Mail-in ballots must be returned on Election Day, November 8.

I don’t think I will “recognize” him as my Congressman, should he be elected.
