The Department of War announced on Tuesday the launch of the Golden Dome for America Ecosystem Hub (Hub), a new digital portal at designed to connect commercial innovators, traditional defense contractors, venture capital, startups, academia, and research labs directly with the Golden Dome Program Office. The launch of the new portal came during the annual Space and Missile Defense Symposium.
Hub Director Gen. Mike Guetlein (pictured here) said the new portal is designed to streamline the implementation of new aerial defense systems and “build a defensive shield that adapts faster than the adversary.”

“We are doing this by cutting bureaucratic red-tape, harnessing innovation through partnerships, and leveraging the true power of the Arsenal of Freedom. We are dismantling the historical walls separating commercial innovation from national defense and short-circuiting the ‘Valley of Death’ that so often stalls the deployment of critical technologies,” he said.
A detailed Department of War statement describes the Hub as a single entry point for registering organizations, uploading concepts, and submitting designs straight to program decision-makers, aiming to bypass months of traditional administrative delays. It offers real-time, unclassified visibility into the program’s immediate capability gaps so the private sector can align research, development, and investment with mission needs.
Focus areas listed on the platform include:
– Radars and advanced sensors;
– Advanced weapons and kinetics;
– Space systems;
– Command and control and battle management;
– Communications and data transport;
– Artificial intelligence, digital engineering, and simulation;
– Sensors, spectrum, and electronic warfare;
– Unmanned systems and autonomy;
– Cybersecurity;
– Infrastructure, energy, and power management;
– Materials and energetics; and
– Maritime and domain platforms
Additional features reported include security protocols to protect intellectual property and shared data sandboxes for future analytics testing. Officials say the platform will also support supply-chain security and industrial-base revitalization by linking qualified suppliers with capital tools, encouraging multi-vendor participation, reducing sub-tier vulnerabilities, and avoiding vendor lock-in.
Guetlein stressed fiscal discipline around the program’s $185 billion price tag. “While we are committed to making the necessary investments to defend and protect the nation, we are equally committed to being responsible with every dollar of the $185 billion we need to deliver Golden Dome. To do that, we are leveraging commercial-off-the-shelf technologies and fostering a competitive environment to drive down costs,” he said.
He also warned that roughly 90 percent of the approximately $24 billion previously allocated has been obligated but that failure by Congress to prioritize the bulk of the fiscal 2027 request could halt the effort: “If they don’t figure it out, there is no Golden Dome, because there is no funding.”
Guetlein stated the program now has its “first operational site” at Fort Story, Virginia, declaring “We are digging dirt around the homeland.” Two tests have been completed — one at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico, which he called “the most complex integrated missile defense test that we had pulled off as a nation” and which was organized in under six months.
The space-based interceptor layer closed the design and component-level testing — the first of a four-step process — with 12 companies competing for contracts potentially totaling $3.2 billion. Industry partners report they remain on track for on-orbit demonstrations by the end of 2027. The director confirmed the initiative remains on schedule for an operational capability in 2028.
The Golden Dome, originally framed in a January 2025 executive order as the Iron Dome for America and later rebranded, is the Trump administration’s effort to field a next-generation, multi-layered “system of systems” homeland air and missile defense shield. Officials say it is intended to counter ballistic, hypersonic, cruise, and other advanced aerial threats from peer, near-peer, and rogue adversaries through integrated ground-, air-, sea-, and space-based sensors, interceptors, and command-and-control.
“Defense of the Homeland is a national imperative, and as a result requires a close partnership between industry and the government to leverage innovation to the maximum extent possible,” Guetlein said.
